Dance mimics the movement of a camel, with some connection in Islamic poetry.

Wilwilo: Dancers dance with spears and shields while the leader wears a dagger.

Jaandheer: A celebration dance for weddings and festive occasions.

Syalaci: A religious sufi chant that preserves Islamic foundation that came from Zeila.

Niiko: Basically twerking, that originated in Southern Somalia allegedly introduced by Bantus.

Ceerigaabo: A dance that originated in Ceerigaabo (obviously) that uses sticks and stomping, for celebrations.

Remove niiko as it is not the culture of ethnic Somalis and is seen as inappropriate by our culture. Respect to madoweyne but niiko is just classless and a fatherless activity

that’s just degenerate twerking that gets called niiko if it doesn’t have Xamari or drums playing over it it’s not niiko.


It’s still a cultural dance to some unfortunately it’s been sexualised so much where one individual can come across a lady shaking her behind on the floor in front of a guy and it gets called niiko
