Charity starts at home. The right approach would be to help our people without forgetting/neglecting the Ummah. (Or prioritising based on need, e.g., emergency appeals).

People mocking the Ummah and saying they don't care about the struggles other Muslims face are often ex-Muslims/munafiqs or people who have serious issues with their 'aqeedah. The concept of Ummah and Islamic brotherhood is from Allah عز وجل so who are you opposing?
