S. 29:46
2. "Whether they are the ones who believe (in the Arabian Prophet), or whether they are Jews, Christians or Sabians – all who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and do righteous deeds – their reward is surely secure with their Lord; they need have no fear, nor shall they grieve." S. 2:62
What it says about Athiests/non-believers (and their Kibr):
“Were they created by nothing? Or were they themselves the creators?
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief.” S. 52:35
Although some Muslims may still consider Christians to be infidels for accepting Jesus as God, their Qur'an clearly states positive things about them as well. When it comes to Atheists/pagans though, there is no defense.
P.s. As to your comment about Atheists being "better", what a ridiculous value judgement. I don't really care if Somali Muslims prefer me over a Somali Atheist or not tbh (my religious status has nothing to do with currying favor from others [and I have no personal problem with Somali Atheists either]...but for some reason it seems like you want to turn it into a competition???).

look at it like this: its a marriage, okay? situation 1- say your wife leaves you, you're sad she left. situation two- your wife cheats on you then leaves you and marries the man she cheated on you with. But the mindset you are using isn't a Muslim one...I could understand making that analogy if there wasn't already a specific command given to you by your God but that isn't so. I asked you before but you never answered me. Are you somali and christian as well ?
Those verses that you've posted have nothing to do with having a preference or not. In fact there are rules which govern our interactions with non-muslims and how we're supposed to treat them. Islam obligates us to deal justly with everyone be they muslims or not. Islam abrogated all the previous scriptures that's why anyone who doesn't follow the teachings of islam isn't considered to be a muslim.
When people read verses similar to the ones you've posted they don't realise that there were previous nations who used worship Allah as He commanded them to and these nations received revelations from Allah. So anyone who adhered to the His laws and followed them will be rewarded by Allah. When the quran was revealed it negated all other scriptures making quran the only valid revealation from Allah. So the only route to salvation is through the quran not through any other scripture.
1. "O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. Yes, that's right, I must have not seen your question.
My only point is that Jews/Christians are people of the book and the Qur'an relates to them in a way that it doesn't with other 'gaal'. If you re-read my post, you'll see that I don't judge Somali Athiests and I don't think that I'm somehow inherently "better" than them (the other girl was the one who made that argument, not me). I have two questions for you though...
1. Why is apostasy punishable by death whereas Jews/Christians are made to pay Jizyah if "Islam obligates us to deal justly with everyone be they Muslims or not"??
2. As a Somali Muslim, do you agree with that other poster that Atheists are "better than" and "preferred" over Christians?
