Some of yall really need to check up on your younger siblings to make sure that everything is all right, the amount of 13-18 year (mostly young male) somalis that are online ruining their precious time and energy arguing and having petty war with ajnabis or becoming radical qabiilist is sad. Makes me genuinely wonder if any of these kids have any after school activities like sports, hobbies or studies to help with their development. Let's face it this past generation of somali parents on the average are pretty shit at parenting because they have so many mental issues to handle due to the civil war, culture clash going to complete foreign country which they don't share language or religion with and on top of that raising five or six children. I feel like it's our responsibility as young adults is to give a better role model or influence on the younger generation by making an example out of ourselves, especially with the amount of unnecessary xenophobia there is recently online.
I remember I made an old hread about somalis in Ivy league's to which some of you replied that there are a lot of somalis going in to these prestigious schools but that they keep it "lowkey" well with all due respect they're kind of usless the entire point of being a successful part of your community is to influence others within in your community, just keeping quite and humble really isn't going to create a domino effect. Just have a look at the East-asians and how they make sure to always publicise their achievements, there is this Korean girl doing tiktok about her day-to-day at yale and another on at harvad not only are they improving the overal image of their community but also inspiring the Asian youth both in the west and Asia that they can do better !
