It is shared by everyone in Somaliland. What do we get by forcing them to stay anyway? Maybe we should see how things turn out for them and learn from it?
Well that's not true, there are groups in the eastern part of SL that are unionist and I'm sure others who share that opinion. I never said anything about force but I'm personally against the Balkanization of Somalia over qabil.

I think if it broke up on qabiil lines (PL, SL, JL etc.) and they became functioning countries, they would see the need for cooperation and security arrangements, effectively acting as a federal country.

There's no need for that and tbh it won't happen. We need to aim to move past the qabyalad.

I've already said all I could say on this topic

You know what they say about hindsight, but frankly at the end of the day I think it's a good thing that it was tryed, even if it failed. And the climate is all the better for gaining independence in this era vs the sixties

It's a good alternative to holding people together who don't want to be together.

So the Southern states should just have been let go and continue slavery? :kodaksmiley:

Most important if all federal states become actual states de-facto, then it would leave all Somalis more exposed to influence and they'll remain client states. I don't want that for my people. :hillarybiz:

Majority of Isaaqs were pro Independence but have become dissolutioned after year after year of isolation, corruption, inflation, droughts, and massive political and economic failures.

I am pretty sure 40-45% of Isaaqs particularly Garxajis are pro union.

Yes the south should've been allowed to continue slavery. It is not feasible and would've ended on its own anyway and the south would be dysfunctional.
The federal states would look to each other for economic collaboration and security. It would be a loose alliance but it would be an effective alliance.
