Its ridiculous how people do historical revisionism. Siad Barre didnt seize the power in the coup Siad was like flora in 1969 wuxuu qabtay baa iska yar. The coup was masterminded and executed by Salaad Kabeyre Kediye and in that coup Supreme Revolutionary Counsil(military) seized power, and it was this body that chose Siad Barre as its head, because he was the highest ranking official in the army. USC and SNM both recruited or tried to recruit former Kacaan era politicians who happen to be hawiye or isaaq.
Why did USC ask Hassan Kulmiye Afrah( number 2 of the kacaan regime) to join them? It's pretty obvious they weren't against the regime, this wasn't a political thing but a purely tribalist rebellion.
If the opposition was seriously against siad politically they would have started a new government after kicking him out but instead they started butchering random daroods and kill each other
Siad died in 1995 and left somalia in the early 90s.
Even if he had a part in creating the condition that caused the civil war he has almost no responsibility for what happened in the last 30 years.
Siad never forced HG and Abgaal to kill each other instead of forming a government

We can criticize him but to say he was like Aidid or Ali Mahdi isn't correct

I have people in my family kicked out of their homes or killed just because the were darood.
Was siyaad brutal? Yes
Was aidid brutal? Yes
But siyaad at least ruled a stable country for 20 years that's my point
