When did I blame Islam? I don't give a shit about 99% of the populace who follow it peacefully. I just hate the 1% who have a whole fucking monopoly on this shit. There's no doubt he more or less ruined secularism in Somalia, I hate him for that but looking at former communist East Asian countries he would've been better off copying them. The civil war was more or less guaranteed when the killings began but instead of targeting a part of society that could've been perceived as an enemy he didn't even make a proper example out of them and instead attacked everyone else then went onto them in a half-assed manner.

You'd be lying to yourself if you said Somalis ain't drunk on religion. It's like they picked the worst aspects of it.

You're putting to much emphasis on the wadaans and there influence. If they had any the civil war wouldn't have occured and Barrre wouldn't have commited the crimes he did but that isn't the case.

People only started to listen to extremist once the regime collapsed and they wanted to bring some sort of law and order back to the country. What east asian countries are you talking about? Japan is literally a colony of America , South korea problems still exist and they fighting a proxy war currently. If people got drunk on religion it was a reaction to the chaos it wasn't the cause of it.

I liked some of his policies. He was a f*ck up near the end, but he wasn’t politician but a general. Was a man of the sword not a man of the book
Killing your own people is fucked though but I seen what he wanted to accomplish in making sure no one dared to rebel again

I’m conflicted towards him but he was still lightyears ahead of any president we had now

As a distant relative of his fam on my fathers side, I can say he was terrible to the northerners and was a bad man near the end of his life
