women are trying to make "marriage of survival sake" and "marriage of preference", the same thing‍♂

If they understood the principal behind marrying single mothers back home they would realize........ it's out of tribal "interest" dumaal/keeping ur dead brothers wealth, livestock and military aged sons within the tribe. Essentially your marrying your dead siblings wife to not have the family lose these "interest" (my family lived in badiyo so they did this alot).

This was a practice for our people who lived in badiyo and were in constant wars/fights with all neighboring tribes around them.

Where in 2022 majority of ppl left badiyo and live in major cities and will not marry a single mother as there is no "interest" there anymore lol only "preferences". Imagine a man struggling in somali....only to marry a single mother.....economic death sentence for no reason.

I just got back from Puntland on business and I noticed two of my cousins living there were like 28-32 and had wives who were like 18-20 and they as well as another unmarried cousin were encouraging me to marry a similarly young wife who will heed my word, cook for me, clean and mind the children at home. I joked to one and said:

"Walaal, you want children, yes?"
"Yes."
"You will love your children, I'm sure?"
"Of course."
"Well, why do you want an ariyad to birth your children? Marry a libaaxad, waryaa."

Lool it’s always been that way. Have you not seen on average with the older generation the husband is 8-10 yrs older? Even then with some of them, even though they’re 10-15 yrs older once’s the wife is 45 and they’re in there late 50s they will still try and marry a younger wife despite being significantly older than the 1st.

I was there on business and am a taken saaxiib so I did not wonder about in such a way but from what I saw, and keep in mind everyone's in either a jilbab or a hijab or full-on indho-shareer, they're pretty good-looking, rarely overweight and vary from miskiin to the sort who will look at you judgmentally and be like "Dee maaxo raba?!"
