Please stop with this nonsense.sambusa-comes from south asia
macawiis-comes from south asia
dirac-possible yemeni origins
sabbayaad-yemeni origins
-30 percent of somali words come from arabic
-somali koofiyaad comes from oman/yemen
-the belt that somali men wear with their white clothes might come from yemen and oman
I am honestly hoping alindi is somali because I have seen some other people rock it too

Many people in this forum are uneducated self haters who have a hard time understanding this basic simple fact. Civilizations share stuff. The only people who have zero foreign influence are uncontacted tribes in the Amazon forest. Everybody else (especially big nations) has foreign influence. The entire music of the western world is inspired by rock which was invented by black Americans, now tell Italians their famous 60-70s and 80s pop music belongs to blacks or tell the British the Beatles belong to African AmericansThat sort of cultural assimilation is inevitable when a Nation occupies an area that has access to the sea and literally neighbours another continent.

-Sambuus is our own version of samosa, just like Arabs have their own version of kebab (shawarma) despite it being Turkish.
- macwiis is a colorful version of Somali traditional go' which native.
-Sabaayad or Kimis is somali, anyway it's just a type of bread. The fact others have similar types doesn't mean it belongs to them. And even if it's inspired by them countless nations have foods that were partly inspired by others. Italian spaghetti vs Chinese noodles for example.
- all languages have borrow from others, English vocabulary is half latin despite it being a Germanic language. Anyway 30% is too much , half of that is probably common afroasiatic or southarabian words
- duh, somali kofiyaad comes Islam, but there's a native production in Barawe. Pakistanis and Afghans have their own version of Khamiis but you don't see them in their forums crying about their national dress being a variation of Arab clothing.
- the belt is just a belt, who told you it's from Arabs? Their belts are much different than ours.
no idea what the hysterics is all about. it;s alright. we tend to have some overlapping cultural customs with our neighbors. no shamePlease stop with this nonsense.

I don't think anyone has an issue with it. ofc somalis are going to share things with other cultures. it's called cultural diffusionMany people in this forum are uneducated self haters who have a hard time understanding this basic simple fact. all you have to do is state how it has origins from black cultureMany people in this forum are uneducated self haters who have a hard time understanding this basic simple fact. It seemed from your post that you are trying to say somalis have no culture. Dude we are right next to the Arabian peninsula and we are Muslim ,of course we are going to have influence from there. English people stole tea from India and made it a national tradition.I don't think anyone has an issue with it. ofc somalis are going to share things with other cultures. it's called cultural diffusion
sambosa is of persian originIt seemed from your post that you are trying to say somalis have no culture. Dude we are right next to the Arabian peninsula and we are Muslim ,of course we are going to have influence from there. English people stole tea from India and made it a national tradition.
We didn't even steal stuff. We adapted foreign stuff to our own culture, Somali sambuus is our one food despite it comes from India originally, the recipe is different.
Didn't know that. This proves my point, the indians enjoy their own version without feeling ashamed that it comes from Persians. They made it their own and adapted to their culture.sambosa is of persian origin
nope. not about that. more about being shocked how many things aren't of somali originDidn't know that. This proves my point, the indians enjoy their own version without feeling ashamed that it comes from Persians. They made it their own and adapted to their culture.
I know cadaans who tried somali sambuus and prefer our own version to the Indian one which is often times vegetarian
My guy is making stats up as he goes-Sabaayad or Kimis is somali, anyway it's just a type of bread. The fact others have similar types doesn't mean it belongs to them. dumbest shit I've heard in my life, imagine the irish made potatoes taboosomalis saying it's a part of a poor man's diet makes sense but wth.....
i can not fathom someone having a coastline that long and seeing it as ceeb
We barely even know much about our history -as of now there’s hardly any archeologists working over there due to insecurity. But the did find over the years, through small excavations, very interesting stuff. Examples include Punt artifacts, greek and roman pottery, inscriptions of ancient languages, etc,
Lets not jump to conclusions
SLMy guy is making stats up as he goes
30-40% of Somali vocab (in SL & Jabuuti dialects the figure will probably be higher) is of Arabic origin
Sabaayad is Indian Chapati although we learned that word and the food from Adeni Yemenis who call it Sabaaya. Many words especially in SL Somali is from Aden like the word Daaqad (window) is from Adeni Arabic Daaqa![]()
