Siad Barre is sadly the only strong leader we ever had even with all the bad things he's done. No way would he have let Somalia be a failed state for 30 years

Siad not secular. He used Islamic teachings within his rule.
It was way better than now. You should be happy siyaad build roads and Berbera port, airport and hargeysa airport. SL has not even built their own infrastructure project until 30yrs Dubai with their interest is only modifying and renevating siyad infrastructure. Siyad gave the leaders of SL opportunity to become who they are.

It's not because we turned from Wahabbism it's because we turned away from islam in general. He thought his inheritance law is better than Surah Nisa.
For much of modern Somali state it was largely secular following Italian/British constitution with minor changes her and there.
Post 1991 the adherence to Islam among general population skyrocketed and we still fought along clan lines even thought it is totally forbidden and all sides killed will go to hell.
How do you explain our sorry state of affairs past 30 years despite rise in strict Islamic adherence. Duqsis, islamic schools, mosques are quickly built and generously funded yet we are still in turmoil.
Don't attribute everthing bad or good to Islam there is no fixed solution for all problems eithin Somalia be it Islamic ir Secular "laws".

It's because Somalis are still killing each other. Also Islam was sent by Allah and Is superior to all other ideologies and if Somalis follow Islam properly we will progress inshallah.
