Here where I live everyone who works takes a mortgage and after 20 years they are home owners. They climb up the social ladder, they have equity, take loans, etc. Muslims say mortgages are haram and avoid them. They are markedly poorer than other non Muslim immigrants as a result, they are forced to rent. Their kids go to bad schools; introduced to drug and gang culture.
