Shaax

"Shah" - Persian king - is cognate with "chess", funnily enough. From which also comes "checkmate" -from "shah-māt", which in turn means something like "the king is helpless". Cool that we share the boardgame tradition and adopted it in more 'authentic' avenues than most Africans as evidenced by the word making its way into our language in its unbastardised form.

This is isn't the only thing we share with the iranics, kurds have a festival where they jump over fires and somalis do and they have the same name for it, I wonder how's that?
