I’ll be honest, slavery will never die down and as wars happen it shall be natural for the winning side to take slaves. Notions on human rights and morals mean nothing outside of the west. The best protection a woman has against this is to have another man (a relative, a spouse, family member) protect her and keep would be violaters and slavers in check. It’s the cold hard reality of life.

And on the topic of FGM, I’d say that it would be declining in Somalia had it not been for some very superstitious and dangerous mothers who push their daughters into this procedure and goad the father if he voices opposition.

it doesn't matter which gender did it, at the end of the day though, its mens fault, women wouldn't even step out the house if the man didn't want them to, if men were serious about their daughters health, their family wouldn't even go near them, the men in the community aren't serious enough about the topic because they didn't see it as a problem
