I think this situation is a reflection of Somali culture as a whole. Covering Islamically has never been a part of somali culture, just look at pictures from the golden pre-war era and see for yourself. The hijab and abaaya is a new thing and Somali women, no matter how pious they think they are, have not gotten used to wearing something so foreign and alien.
LOL. It's true. I don't wear a hijab so I am not a hypocrite like that. My mum fully covers but she would never wear a see through dirac without a shalmad.
