Are you mad that your Arab ancestors were baby killing idol worshippers while our ancestors were noble hanifs?
Waaq was a noble faith to a degree and we picked up Islam very early. Waaqism was monotheistic from what I can tell and there are no archeological evidence of Idols being used as well as the fact waaq had Nomads pray to the sky instead of an idol makes it certain Ancient somali & east Cushites were not idol worshipers.

It's proven that Ethiopians before Christianity had similar or identical Gods to Yemen. Maybe Some somalis also worshiped the dame deities
Yes we are talking about lowland cushites though, Somalis and Oromo.

We worshiped an ancient native monotheistic god called waaq. We didn't follow the hundreds of pagan idols that the Habasha did since they picked up alot from yemen unlike us.

We worshipped not Semetic idols but a single sky god. Which is why we have found no idols in any of what is now Somalia and oromia and Afaria.

Native Cushitic like us have never worshiped pagan idols.

Many early sites from Southern Kenya relate to the SPN/Elementian culture. The sky was very important for nomadic herders, and knowing knowledge about stars and constellations was important for seasons and navigating the world.

This was probably the case for the majority of early Afro Asiatic speakers.

It makes sense you can see many elements in Cushtiic religion like Waaq and the worship of a almighty sky god and the other afro asiatic peoples like the Semetic tribes like Jews. And Egyptians who worshiped the Sun..

the ancient cushite nomads like somalis used to pray to the sky for rain whilst they walked for days in the dry peninsula.

Unlike other religions pre Abrahamic who are all so twisted and idol worshiping. Waaq seems quite noble from an Abrahamic perspective. Not a single idol has been found in ancient Cushitic lowland

Yes. I agree but somalis in the north had contacts with Habeshas and Yemenis as archeological evidence confirms so it may be likely that some proto somalis or ancestors of Northern somalis may have adopted Ethiopian gods

Yeah but it would be like some Sudanese and eastern Mediterraneans adopting Egyptian gods because of high trade with Egypt.
It happened but it's nothing worth noting other than the fact it was an effect of trade and interaction between northern Somali city states and the red sea trade with Ethiopia and Yemeni states.

Ancient Somali had their own monotheist religion and single god which it's society was based upon. But ofc there would be a few in the coastal city worshipping the Many Pantheons of Semetic gods.

To make idols you need craftsmanship which Somalis lack.

We need to find out where our lineage E-Y18629 was located 1st. I get the feeling we only entered Somalia recently in the past 1000 years. Without archeogentics we will never know. The people who build the Stonehenge are not the ones roaming in Britain today.

Craftman ship? Bro most culture's idols were literally just clay or rock pieces that vaguely resembled Humans. You think arabs had master works like the Greeks and Egyptians?

Somalis could make idols out of anything like all other people in the world. But ancient Somali didn't as their god waaq was supposed to be of the sky and not personified within a man/woman/creature like other pre Abrahamic religions in the world. Ancient somalis prayed to the sky and not to any statue or geographic area.

Somali and Oromo practised Waaqism, which probably was practised by proto cushitic groups.

"Waaq (also Waq or Waaqa) is the name for the sky God in the Cushitic languages of both the Oromo people and Somali people in the Horn of Africa.[1][2][3] The word still means God in present Oromo language. Some traditions indicate Waaq is associated with the Harar region,[4]

In Oromo and Somali culture, Waaq, Waaqa or Waaqo was the name of God in their pre-Christian and pre-Muslim monotheistic faith believed to have been adhered to by Cushitic groups. It was likely brought to the Horn by the speakers of the Proto-Cushitic language who arrived from North Sudan in the Neolithic.[2] In modern times, the religion has mostly declined ever since the arrival of Islam and Christianity.

This name for God was used mainly by Somali people and Oromo people before and after Christianity and Islam came to the Horn of Africa

There are also ancient names of villages which involve the word (WAAQ) in the Somali language and also Oromo language."
Wikipedia isnโ€™t a source. Waaq being the Oromo word for god doesnโ€™t mean that Somalis would use the same word when it just means heaven in Somali.

Somali and Oromo are from totally different branches of lowland Cushitic, this is like the gap between Italians and Russians.

Itโ€™s highly possible that Ancient Somalis followed a Pre-Islamic Arabian faith, due to the great cultural influence of the Sabaeans. These findings are lending more credence.
Very likely. Hoobal and all of that is south Arabian, but I wouldnโ€™t call the people who lived in Somalia before Islam somalis. Sooyal and traditions make a massive gap between them, not to mention that to be a Somali you must be Muslim.
