Regarding Muqdishu

Your making a lot of spurious assumptions here. Arabs have many Persian loan words. Doesn’t mean they founded anything there. Fact of the matter is most of the ports in norther Somalia called “bandar” are ancient and had different names before any Persians or Arabs would have arrived. For example Bossasso was called Mosylon around the first century bc-ad. This bandar shit may have been Arabs own name for the place.
Or these older sites are different towns later abandoned as the Somalis became more Pastoral in the early ceuntries a.d due to the fall of the Roman and later Gupta empire so the early Somalis lost the ability to sell the fracenhensinse
And Myr they had

But that’s the thing. They never lost that ability to sell Frankincense. Btw, Somalia has been arid for thousands of years so Somalis have been nomads for that long. I get the sense that you don’t know much about your people. That’s fine, just research and read though.

I agree with you somalis have been nomads for the longest but their have been bouts of time where Somalis became more urbanized, the first time being in the first century a.d, the second time being the 1200-1600s it ended around the time of the Oromo migration which ended both the Adal and Ajuuran sultantes afterwards Somalis went into a second pseudo-“Dark- Age” until the 1880s in the beginning of the Italian Migration

Saxib don’t say I don’t know about my people just because we have differing views, you sound triggered it’s just an academic debate nothing to get riled about

Listen kid. Learn how to use the word triggered. A lot of you kids on here learn words like triggered, BLM, sjw and just regurgitate like parrots. My tone was not “triggered” at all. I even told you it’s fine. But as soon as you started with “Saxib don’t say” your tone clearly was upset. So again, it’s fine. I don’t ever get triggered by random people online who could be bots for all I know. But you on the other hand I will leave alone so you can eat some jaad and calm down for a while...:ulyin:

What were you trying to ascertain? Who founded muqdisho? 99% it wasn’t a Somali. They are geljires and geel-dhac like you said who had no use for cities for the most part. Especially coastal ones away from the gel pastures in the interior.

Ive changed. I’ve realized not all Somalis are the same. But also I never attack first.
Haven’t seen you in a while saxib,

Mogadishu is a Somali city and always was but it’s crucial not to underestimate the forgien influences it and other coastal cites have just look at the building styles

It’s not right to say that this is a native Somali building style when we all know that the average Village in Somali today and a 100 years ago looked like this

This thread was about Mogadishu and I devolved it into a discussion about Foreign influences in Somalia ....Brilliant

Think about this. No archeological investigations have been done on xamar so the basis of our inquiry is shaky to begin with. Siad and the presidents/colonial admins allowed archeological digs in the north where Somalis are believed to have originated but never bother with xamar. Why is that? Prolly because they didn’t think they built it? Think about that. There are archeological finds at British and American universities and museums and Somalis have no clue about it. These have been there since the 70s.

I have made a thread dubunking that fact that Somalis originated from the north when we came from the Riverine areas and moved north with the domestication of the camel

That’s my point those buildings in that picture have never been investigated and some day they may be gone. Sooner then you think. We don’t even know their age yet there is technology to find out when the concrete was set.

I completely agree we need more archeologist to investigate these areas and others too

But we never do. Somalis fly to xamar every day. Can’t one of them chip off a little concrete and bring it back for testing? Have you ever lived in xamar? The fact that those buildings have survived this long from the torrential downpours is a testament to the civilization of the people who built it. But very few care.

i'm a national socialist i follow Siadism.

Hmm, national socialism seems like a nice rounded ideology to follow. But can you at least change the name siadism, to make it more inclusive to all Somalis.
