Born and bred in London, it used to be good, now it’s such a expensive overcrowded overrated city, with such poor standard of living. Majority of typical Londoners nowadays live in shared accommodation with such a small space, it’s unbelievable now due to high cost of living. I really woke up when I took a trip across the U.K., how different London is to the rest of the country.
I went up north, to Manchester, leeds, Sheffield, and automatically I notice how friendly people are, strangers talking to each other on the streets, they seem way happier and positive compared to the Londoners who are soo reserved, stressed and unhappy. What I also noticed was those Somalis who live in Sheffield has much higher standard of living than reer London, you even see Somalis buying their home up north which is basically unheard of in London. There’s a sense of real community in Sheffield thanks to how small the city is, so there’s a sense of togetherness compared to lonely big London.
It is also way cheaper than London, clean air, friendly people etc I’m really tempted now after coming back to London to move up North permanently, and I feel Somalis in London should do the same, as there are good population of Somalis up north especially in Sheffield so you should not feel lonely etc. The only downsides is the weather up north is worse than South, so be prepared.
