But what makes one better than the other has to do a lot with environment, professors, facilities and value of their degree. It is mostly name recognition . A kid from less popular college might know more than the Ivy League graduate. With that said, after you read up on them through the comparison, choose the best name recognition among them if their similarities aren't that different.

Branding is all that matters in the world today.

Ain't the the truth , I'm more interested in making useful connections for the future. I don't believe meritocracy exists to the extent many people think it does these days. Oh btw , which of these places has the least amount of somali's in the surrounding area not trying to avoid them or anything.....

I can spend either a term or two there or the full year , I don't plan on transfering I'm already in a pretty good college here. May use this time and see whether or not I would like to do my masters in the US aswell

Masters in the US is great. The world is catching up to the US but they are for now at the top in research and development. Anyone who can earn a degree in a US college/university is better off doing so. Just for the marketability alone and the experience.

My college has an agreement ,which means I only pay my home fees and I'm exempt from any US tuition fees .

That I don't know saxib. I am assuming few make it as they are prohibitively expensive for Somalis. Low income students go there only on full scholarship, and I don't think many Somalis get that every year, You may run into less than five perhaps.

Luckily, Somalis apply to other prestigious schools like the U Of Minnesota which has good STEM programs. Their Computer science program is for example hard to get into, they only accept 2% of total applicants and many Somalis apply there and make it. Somalis are also in the Electrical Engineering school, which is very good school. I have seen Somalis in their medical school, nursing and dental working towards their bs and beyond.

The university made a category for Somalis when you are applying on the form to the school and you can select your ethnicity as Somali American. I am suspicious of American institutions so I thought that was a set up to limit the number of Somalis in the future to make room for other minorities who rarely come to the UofM like African Americans. They don't graduate from high-school as much, and when they do, they have to work to keep a roof over their head, so college is not always optional. It is sad in many ways because you don't see many African Americans attending the U. It is a sea of white with second largest population being Asians.

American politics are fun. We will be glued to our TVs on election night and party when Trump loses. We will be cheering at every result coming from the states showing he lost.

This coming fall I'll hopefully be spending a semester, or a year at a University outside of the UK. My options are the following:

Brown University
Columbia University
Cornell University
Dartmouth College
Harvard University
Princeton University
University of Pennsylvania
Yale University
Tsinghua University
Waseda University
Yonsei University​

The Truth is I have no Idea what the rep of each of these Colleges are aside from Harvard. I would of preferred going to MIT but we don't have an agreement with the institution. I'm currently on a double major course STEM related if that helps with choosing one, for the guys who have been to any of these places ,tell me your stories and which one you would pick if given the chance. We can only pick four options to apply to as we do everything through our assigned helper ( Why the f*ck does the US have so much dumb paperwork for such simple shit?) .We will be accepted ,but it's routine we can't choose any more than that unfortunately. We can also pick some Unis in East Asia but they don't have a limit.

Those are all VERY good schools. I doubt anyone on here went to any of them so we can’t advice you on what they’re like but the IVY league ones are the best of the best.

You can specifically do a query on google for your major in STEM in these schools and get informed articles comparing them for you. I think that is much better and narrower search.

Hope you read at least many articles to avoid a paid agent pretending to give an impartial opinion on these schools. The upside is that the Ivy Leagues come on top compared to other schools. But choosing one of them will require you do specific search on your Major offered in these schools and compare them that way.

uncomfortable? Also you could travel all over asia dirt cheap while studying. Most of the schools you listed are in or around new york. transportation there can be hell. with buuq and druggies everywhere. On the other hand Beijing is clean and safe and is an entirely different experience

I've already travelled around east asia and been to China albeit it was only Beijing and Shanghai. I wasn't really a fan of the deep feeling of outsider syndrome. I'm relevantly tall which makes me stand out whereever I go in China it was far worse + being a foreigner just makes it unbearable in my own opinion. Granted, I will still consider if it is beneficial for me I have a few meetings with my career adviser before I make any rash decisions based on my own grievances.

They're all solid choices, go for where you want to live in for a year. New York for 1 year sounds like a top experience, I'd recommend that.
