It's a diaspora thing. It has been advocated for by the diaspora, specifically Canadians, for over a decade. It was initially motivated by subclanism, but now it's becoming more inclusive and more people are beginning to be open to it despite it's initial motivation.

It's pretty pointless at this point due to the disconnect between the diaspora and most of the people back home. Vast majority of Samaroon backhome would support it, but it has to proposed to them in Borama and not Ottawa. Also, there is the issue of the Horgals and those that support them who are against it. There's also the issues of the undermining of the Ugaas by certain Horgals and mass subclan division.

Was Dahir Riyaale that your Ugaas campaigned for him in 2003 elections a horgaal? again why do you still think like you're Harti Daroods who never really accepted Somaliland from the beginning?

It's in the Xeer for the Ugaas to do what's best for the clan and to try to keep the clan united. Our Ugaas was never a mouthpiece nor was on any sort of payroll. Just because we initially accepted Somaliland doesn't mean we have to accept it forever. There's absolutely nothing of economic value that we've gained. The argument about Dahir Riyaale won't hold no more.

I'm not sure if I agree with you. That may be the case for the current 'president' of the other Awdal state movement. However, this appears to have the approval of the Ugaaska guud.

In the tweet/communique, it also says that the Ugaas will travel to Ethiopia next week, and I'm assuming that it will be based in K5 for now.

The Ugaas will return to Ethiopia next week and will supervise the distribution of tasks to all branches of the clan to establish the entity on the ground.

We still retain our ministerial positions in Xamar. Just because it rotated from the finance ministry doesn't change a thing.

The whole purpose of self governance is to empower our region to make decisions and manage our own affairs independently, free from external control and interference. There's various factors to it, such as economic development and political accountability, both of which we are currently lacking. It's further de centralisation. The sole reason we have developed our land to its current state is because of that. We have no use for Villa Hargeisa which undermines us and is against any form of economic development in our region.

The likes of Abiib are complicated. Abiib is the same one who opposed another Samaroon to become the speaker. You can't expect everyone to jump on it at the same time. It's only now picking up pace with the former finance minister of the FGS also involved.

Regarding this conference and it's development, it is supported by the Ugaas, so the elders and politicans of Awdal are below him.

Some of the elders of Awdal rejected the political decision concerning the state made by HJ, as did Prof. Samatar and his Hilaac Urur. We are now focused on our affairs. Abiib even made a proposition to Prof. Samatar to hold a conference in Awdal.
