Somali Cat :mjlaugh:

Abyssinian breed. Mistaken for Somali

These cats are not even from Somalia, Abysinnian cats had a genetic change so breeders started calling this type 'Somali'.

Somalis are actually a medium-hair Abyssinian. They appeared around the 1950s. Some attribute their appearance to a genetic mutation, while others believe they were the result of forbidden crossbreeding between an Abyssinian and a long-hair. It wasn’t until after WWII, when there were merely a dozen or so Abyssinians left in England, that breeders went out in search of fresh blood to avoid the breed disappearing altogether.
