Somali men are able to marry very young women simply because of forced marriages and poverty back home. Right now, there is even a surplus of older women going back home as well and getting men significantly younger.

In Western and countries that are wealthy, the age gap is 2-5 years on average. When women are able to choose without worrying about poverty, they also take into account physical attraction and commonality.
