Nugaal high court issued death penalty for five men according to the prosecuting Puntland state attorney.

They raped a women in Gaalkacyo.

Four men captured in Qardho have been returned to Garoowe while 1 was captured in Gaalkacyo and transferred to Garoowe.

First of all she wast a woman. She was a child.

There is a business model that is thriving which the elders massively profit from.

There is no form of justice the administration is beholden to this odayaal and are told to stay out of those affairs.

This case happened on 22 February and preceded Aisha's case and was inflicted on woman who was not slained if you actually had bothered to read you would get it.

Aisha's case has not been brought to justice yet and it is in its initial investigation stage. Seven men are accused and held in Gaalkacyo for murdering, maiming and raping little Aisha.

So many rape cases. What the hell is going on in Galkacyo? or was this happening all the time and it wasn't reported.

It happens all the time in Somalia but is not usually reported on due to the collective degeneracy that exists in Somali culture that makes rape not a big deal. The magnifying class is currently on Gaalkacyo however because of the brutal murder and rape of that poor girl and because of anti-Puntland sentiments from outsiders.

As someone from Gaalkacyo though, I welcome the attention and the hate from other regions. We are using this to better ourselves and rid ourselves of the rape epidemic that engulfs this country.

We are already seeing results. These 5 would probably not have been executed otherwise. Additionally, you have the government making rape punishable by death, a first in Somalia.

The other thing is that Gaalkacyo is not in the Puntland sphere and enjoys special status due being the border and shared city.

Its people are organised on subclan level and request support from Puntland rather a combined Puntland force patrolling the city.

They didn't do it but as s result the judiciary is weaker in any other place which already is weak in itself.

The role of the elders and filling in of government, jurisdiction and everything in the city created a rotten system of elders trading in murders, rape and other issues thereby allowing certain individuals to get away with most heinous crimes.
