Puntland independence movement

FGS barely played any role in that conflict. In fact, they are obstructing SSC by how little support they are giving them.

Can't prove it but I think they were funding it. Otherwise where did they get all that money from and continue to fund those militias. Likely FGS money through back channels.

They use that conflict as leverage over Somaliland. It's useful to them, going all the way and recognizing SSC kind of ruins it, best to leave it like a hanging sword over the head while continuing to keep the militas in the region paid.

Eritrea, Puntland ect
Puntland is definitely involved, I don't know about Eritrea, maybe but FGS is definitely in on it.

I think they will recognize SSc the minute Ethiopia recognizes Somaliland - that will be where the border wars take place.

I think they would otherwise keep SSc in the back pocket.

SSc really about to prove their love for Somalia by becoming a war zone for the foreseeable future.

Las Anod is definitely a signal that the FGS wants to absorb Somaliland.

The FGS is following the same path as the failed Afghan government. It's just a flaw in the design of these donor funded governments that are insulated from the political reality of the country. They are incentivized to try and centralize power even when it's not possible.

There are definitely no more negotiations with the FGS. It's a failed project. I don't think it survives one dodgy election. You'll see groups pulling out of it and no one will be able to put it back together again. It will be ripped apart by it's warring factions. Enjoy the show.
My understanding as someone with no personal interest in the Las Anod conflict follows as;

-Las Anod has been under administration from SL since 2007(local PL militia switched loyalties to Ahmed Habsade, who defected from PL to SL and back again._
-Several clan leaders assisinated in the city
-Protests in the region driven by politicial marginalization(triggered the killing of Abdifatah Abdulli Hadrawi a young Dhulbahante politician in the Wadani party.)
-SL troops started shooting protesters killing 15 and injuring many.
-On 3rd of Jan local trader was shot and killed by SL forces patrolling the town(relative armed themselves)
-SL withdraws from Lasanod in January 2023
-SL interior minister and Chief of the SL come in to monitor the situation in Lasanod.
-Traditional elders came into town
-SL president on the 30th of January blames terrorists for the unrest in Lasanod (typical ploy to discredit the protests in the region.)
-Dhulbahante elders are unhappy with his speech, they blame the SL administration for the insecurity in the town.
- In Feb Omar Gelle offered his services as a mediator, Dhulhabante elders rejected this, and will only start to talk to SL once the military is moved out of town.
- Clan elders decided to form their government within FGS.
-SL began its bombardment campaign killing at least 82 people and displacing thousands.
-Dhulbanate militia received funding equipment and fighters from Harti clans.
-The report also included photos of indiscriminate 107mm rocket shelling from Somaliland security forces – confirming the use of weapons banned as part of the current UN Somali arms embargo.
-UN Security Council released a statement reaffirming its full support of the territorial integrity of Somalia and urges all parties to refrain from fighting, to de-escalate the situation.
-SL reported to have shelled health and public infrastructure in July 2023, WHO released a statement condemning the situation.
-SL Ministry of foreign affairs released statement describing the statement as disturbing and claimed it was fighting clan militias and al Shabaab.
-Fall of Gojacade and Maarage bases in late August
-Capture of SL 12th division commander and sizable arsenal from SL.
-SL Ministry of defense released statement that it withdrew from position in eastern part of Sool for strategic purposes.
-Front line moved to western Sool
-FGS reconginized SSC-Khatumo as federal member state.
-In dec SL and Khatumo, reinforced position near frontlines.
-SL claims it captured spies for Somalia/Khatumo and PL.

So the logic being proposed here is that SL didn't want the region to integrate and so assasinated it's own politicians to create instability when in reality there have always been people there who never wanted to integrate and repeatedly tried to set up their own adminstration.

Everyone knows that makes zero sense, even the guy proposing it (German Dhulbahante Marcus van whatever) knows it makes no sense. If you have no position, you sure pick your sources interestingly.

Other people openly admit it's a political action in response to the NDAA 2023 which brought the US into closer ties with SL and this was a move to discredit SL but they want to present it as case of pure self-determination instead having a political motivation.

Because self-deterimination is a good thing and simply wanting to play Federal politics is a bad look or even worse just get paid more from the competition.

Either way the situation unfolded in a way the people involved didn't know what to do with. Now the region is just a pawn in a game.

MARKUS VIRGIL HOEHNE, that's whose analysis you used. That guy is anti SL to the max. Everyone knows dhulbahaante were killing the supporters of somaliland because they wanted to create problems between SL and Dhulbahante. We want a stable laascaanood why would we want to sabotage somalilands image.

PL wishing they were in SLs position right now lol
What position are you talking about? Your people are begging every non-Muslim country to recognize them. Somaliander niggas are politically immature, unlike the Puntlanders who hold high positions in the USA, Canada, and even in the World Court. We can easily push for independence. Burco doesn’t even have an airport, even though it’s the second biggest city in Somaliland 😂.

May Allah bless #Puntland but #SomaliaFirst

We should all stand with Somalia 🇸🇴 not our little enclaves.

What is Somalia and how do you define it? Is it the south, contested and occupied by shabab, Ethiopia and a joint venture of Bantu nations? Is it mugadisho an underdeveloped city with its corrupt leadership headed by Qoslaye.. What is exactly Somalia and how do you define it? Once you can answer that question with a rational and reasonable answer then we might know what we need to be loyal to.

We're coming back to sool. We might even be bringing Ethiopian soldiers with us

Only thing you need to bring are some shoes you can carry in your trembling hands when you inevitably run back home like a barefoot Oromo
