Puntland and Somaliland should merge

They should merge under the banner of Greater Somaliland. It would solve the border issue forever. Legislative capital in Hargeisa. Judicial capital in Garowe.

Northern and Eastern Somalis are known to be peace loving industrious people. They could achieve great things and break away from the chaotic south.

It would be a medium sized African country with two ports and large cities like Hargeisa, Bosaso, Borama, Galkacyo, Burco. They could get economies of scale and merge their militaries and invest together in fishing, agriculture.

Somaliland will NEVER unite with the south. We will NEVER unite with crazy Mogadishans, reer Al Shabab May Mays, Madows and reer Gedo. But we have nothing against Puntland. The small issue of SSC will be resolved if the Somalis of the Northern Somali civilisation come together.

After all Somaliland is the Harti homeland. An MJ is as welcome in the metropolis of Hargeisa as he is in Bosaso and Galkacyo. Everyone knows that Somali culture comes from the northern regions: the standard dialect, the poetry, the music, the folklore, the Somali dances, the flag and even all Somali clan fathers are buried in Sanaag. Seriously though. Why not?

Somaliland and Puntland union is good strategic move. The whole area in green would come under one government.

Puntland throws full support behind independence on condition that SL agrees to power sharing. Political capital in Hargeisa. Judicial capital in Garowe.

The peaceful, development loving people of the North united in a new Somaliland or Adal Republic.

No we will never unite with South Somalia its cursed. We do not understand each other. Puntlanders are people who have reason and Somali culture. We can understand them even if we fight sometimes... that is Somali tradition.

North and South Somali regions are two separate civilisations. As Somalis we are North and South. Wayooyi Somaliland and Koonfur Somalia. We have always been two separate lands and peoples. This is the case throughout history. We just share a common tenuous link in language.

Even as far back as the 12th - 16th century we were two seperate lands. Adal Sultanate and Ajuuraan sultanate. Our cultures are different. Our dialects are different. Our values & norms are different. Our food is different. Our histories are different. Our economies are different. Even culture as basic as ciyaaar Soomaali v.s Niiko koonfuri.

The north and south were never united. We shall probably be never united. It is the better way. Somalis have always succeeded as two parts - North and South. The Somali lands are too big to rule from chaotic Mogadishu. Both Bosaso and Hargeisa are 1,500KM from Mogadishu which is the same distance as London to Prague in Easter Europe. We are just too distant. But we can trade together.

Bosaso and Berbera are developed the same.

But Puntland would have to accept independence from South Somalia based on the historic basis of Somaliland but with borders extended to South Galkacyo under pretext of security reasons.

Harti gets 75% MPs as Isaac. But Ciise and Gudabiirsi will be the other 25% so there is balance of 50:50 power overall.

When poor former communist countries want to join the EU, the EU tells them to build up your GDP and come back later. Somalilands GDP per capita should be raised at least 30% before we can have any talks. As long as they keep eating cats and porcupine, there won't be wadahadal

No it is not. It means access to unlimited aid and political approval since the government of Somalia is recognized as the legitimate government of all Somalia. There is a reason why Mogadishu is 10x more developed than Hargeisa today.

@Bohol you got it all wrong brah. Look at Gedo. Farmaajo's home region. Its the poorest region in Somalia. Where did that 'unlimited' aid go. Aid dont lead to development, only more corruption. That is why Hargeisa and Puntland are relatively stable while Mogadishu is in chaos.

Mogadishu is 10x more developed than Hargeisa until the next bomb goes off and everything is destroyed. Like the Zoombe attack the worst ever attack under Farmaggio. Haram gains cannot be sustained. It is lost as easily as its gained.

Whereas Hargeisa is slow but steady development that is sustainable. This will win in the end.
