My friend and I were speaking to a Mudug Puntland MP last summer. He went on a tangent criticizing Deni and how he's forming an opposition against him. A few weeks later I saw him in pictures with Deni. So the moral of the story is, these people don't vote based on tribal interest, they vote on self interest and their word is completely meaningless.

No one in North Mudug thinks Culusow will contribute to the building of the 3G road. we will build it for ourselves inshallah with iskutashi. SSC being free and the dignity of the clan returning is indeed more important than a road we would have anyway built with iskutashi no matter how long it takes. Reer Mudug are not politically active right now, they are more concentrated on development.
Everyone is focused on development, ppl prefer a bribe plus a post plus a mashruc for its region, that's usually the goal of most politicians when selecting a leader.
Deni the builder for another term. A traitor sponsored by the bunker administration wont get anywhere as usual. Faroole and his Aaran shaydaan can't be trusted. They are neck deep in idoor suqaar as usual. Traitor Diyano as well can't be trusted.

It is between Deni, Asad, and Jabiye, as I do not see other potential candidates. Of those trio, in the current climate, my first choice would be Asad even with his foreign associations, with Deni being a second best.
Deni exceeded all expectations in terms of development, his handling of the SSC conflict, taking a backseat, and passing the baton to Ahmed Karaash, Shancad, and Garaado to lead. With that, he has shown brilliant gamesmanship, breaking away from his erstwhile, amateurish brinkmanship in:
a) Undermining Issimo,
b) Abusing his position by usurping Fed. MPs selection process,
c) Riding two horses at once - running for Fed. position whilst still claiming PL's, which is unconstitutional, illegal, if politically dangerous (I do not think it has ever been attempted, let alone done (And I am aware of the argument some field re ina Yey, which is untrue) ), and
d) Dealing with ilma Cisman Diyaano.
Of course, credit goes to Deni for being bold in augmenting elections.
Jabiye is an unknown commodity from the Diaspora, comes across as a decent man, yet a bit erratic, if belonging to the mile high club.

I heard Deni is planning to make Puntland official parties Five instead of the intended three, to give the other stakeholders who didn't initially buy into the multiparty system a second chance.
Oh that is just rubbish only circulated when one fails to garner enough support to be elected, and propagated by clueless Diaspora based, arm-chair political commentators.
Deni could recommend it, and I think it is a good idea, albeit would prefer no limitations as to the number, but strict criterion to guide party formation, and it could only happen as and when the Parliament approves it.

In truth the whole triumvirate thing is nonsense peddled by diaspora. Ilkajir, a Warsangeli man, was seen as the man to beat in 2009. He lost because he couldnβt clinch the Dhulbahante vote, he had most of Majeerteen behind him.
Now with Pan-Hartism popular we may see a lot of different people make it to later rounds. But the Dhulbahante vote is critical and both Faroole n Gaas enjoyed that in their races.

Reer Diyaano are true reer PL through and through despite their shortcomings. The old man Cismaan Diyaano was an old guard of SSDF, later sided with Cadde, and hard ally of ina Yey. You can not buy that legacy. The same was true for Maxamed Cabdi Xaashi, who secured Bari & Mudug, but could not garner a few votes from SSC communities.

This is valid. I think Reer Faroole shouldβve taken a step away from politics after the pitiful showing in their home deegaan Eyl during the pilot elections. Now he sends his son to go bash Deni in interviews, attacks Deni 24/7 in GO (ironic cus GO loved Deni not long ago), and use GO to spin false security narratives about PL. Whatever goodwill that family had, they stepped all over it.
Agreed, then again, GO started off to decapitate Cadde after he fired Faroole & Xaabsade. Maxamed Faroole is compromised, fabricates stories, and even sides with the Fed. gov't, and SL to win one over Deni. I recall he even drafted a glowing news report upping Da'ish mountaineers to fault Gaas. I do not even want to bring up his analyses of, and Faroole Sr's reflections on, the tragic Majiyahan conflict. That type of obtuse politics never leads to a good ending.
