Proto-Somali - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org
Lots of names for the ancestor of modern Somalis.
The Macrobia page on wikipedia is all edited. There's no confirmation that Macrobia was located in Somalia, none. Some historians propose it was in Somalia, the way some propose it was in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, and the Roman by the name of 'Pliny' even said it was located in India.
As for Punt, it probably incorporated northern Somalia but the main bulk and origin of Punt are most likely located in Eritrea/Sudan. It's already been genetically proved that the baboons (?) transported to Egypt from Punt are the same ones living in Eritrea. Also, queen hatshepsut of Punt was the first to mention the 'habesha' people in 1460 as people from the Myrrh and Frankincense inducing regions.
Do you have a link to that study? Thanks. I never seen a description that states it was south of Medjay but it makes senseIn a follow-up study (2015) the mummified baboons from ancient Egypt matched with living specimens in eastern Somalia (eastern Somaliland and Puntland). This region produces Somali frankincense and myrrh.
Btw, Punt was located south of Wawat and Medjay (land of Beja). In other words, coastal Horn of Africa (Red Sea & Gulf of Aden) like the baboon study indicates.

The description best matches Somalis in the region. They were described as tall and skinny if I remember correctly and habesha have an average height of 5’2 or something around that. The Macrobia page on wikipedia is all edited. Every Cushite is tall, Afar, Oromos, Somalis, etc. Somalia has kept homogenous while Ethiopia has Omotic groups within which would lower its average height. Also, it's Amharas that are shorter than usual, Tigrayans and Oromos are normal height. For example, the Eritrean president is 6''3. Also, studies have shown that the Orthodox diet practiced in Ethiopia for over 1000 years caused their height to lower in average. The description best matches Somalis in the region. Do amharas have the most omotic dna out of other habesha groupsEvery Cushite is tall, Afar, Oromos, Somalis, etc. Somalia has kept homogenous while Ethiopia has Omotic groups within which would lower its average height. Sudan's Nilotes are the tallest people there is so according to your logic the description best describes them AKA Nubia/Sudan. Keep in mind that Greeks were short people so east Africans in general would have impressed them.
Yes. Amharas, Sidama, and Oromos took part in mixing with Omotes. Only a few of each of these groups did but it still adds up to a noticeable amount all together.Do amharas have the most omotic dna out of other habesha groups
