Pretty privilege exists

I guess everyone on on this forum is either handsome or pretty. To say you have pretty privilege and to speak on it makes you look really self centered. Kind of similar to how a humble person would never say they are humble.

I don't have this issue with Somalis, Somalis can easily recognise me, especially the elders. These individuals I come across think I'm North Sudanese or Eritrean, hence the Arabic. They have this preconceived notion that Somalis have to look a certain way, kinda annoying tbh.
your probably fairskin for people to assume your Eritrean, a lot of people have this misconception that most somalis are darkskin and unattractive mainly from Arabs, maadoes and even some habesha people think that way. And we look very similar to Eritreans is weird when people try so hard to make Eritreans and somalis are worlds apart. You never see people say to a Afghan "noo way your afghan thought you were iranian you don't look it" The xenephobe towards Somalis is sickening and it mainly comes from our "fellow Muslims" "our fellow neighbouring countries" and "our fellow black brothers"

you probably just don't look somali.
Yup and if he does he's probably very lightskin since most people think somalis are darkskin a lot of lightskin Somalis say people get suprised when they found out they're somali and throw shade towards them " your too peng to be full somalian you must be mixed" mainly from maadows and some north africans smh

yeah im quite light skinned for a somali and get told i look ethiopian and eritrean, even got told that by some somali elders. still i would say a lot of people recognise me as somali. some madows think i am mixed race or jamaican. but i tan quite easily and become brown skin in summer and then 99 % of people think i look somali. im not even that light, same colour as nle choppa.

People (mostly Arab 🤦‍♀️) say that I don’t look Somali, or they will say “where is your mum from?” after I tell them I am Somali. I am not even that light skinned and a lot of Somalis look like me. And they will insist that I don’t look somali. Maybe because we are not well represented in media.

he probably has different features to average somali. lightskinness isn't uncommon with us. i'd never been confused with any other ethnic group when i meet an adheer or habiyar compared to gen z girls that always ask where I'm from

As a shy very introverted girl. It is tough. Not a privilege, I guess.
introvertedness doesn't affect a pretty girl as much as a guy. if you aren't extreme bout it its sometimes even seen as cute to guys when they open up after being quiet for a long time. but you will ofc suffer opportunity.

I am approachable, but as soon they find that I am boring af, they will scratch their heads and leave. Anyways, I rarely go out and I am not active on social media, so the opportunities are slim.
