HSM needs to send another 5000 troops to Eritrea after these return to Somalia. 5000 is nothing in the long term.
I'm also skepticals that Eritrean trained troops are really good at war. I expect them to be better then the militias but weaker then their danab and Turkish counter parts.

Afewerki is playing the long game. Those soldiers will fight, stabilise the country and when the time is right ochestrate a military coup. And Afewerki will have a puppet in Mogadishu loyal to him. Millitary coups are very common in Africa, it's how Barre came to power. NISA should keep an eye on them long term.

Those sandals worn by the Somali troops are called Shida, it was worn by the EPLF during their war of independance against Ethiopia. They even have a giant statue of it in Asmara.
As for the narratives on the revered Shida, allow me to present some from those who understand Eritrea and is struggles:
