Puntland is 'center right' state in strong support for historical institutions such as Isimo-clerics plus their political philosophy is a 'states first' not 'federal govt' first, they prefer a weak or ceromonial federal govt with power vested into the state government.
They prefer a market-place that is capitalist with no regulations to create a middle class and they hold a strong security first politics.
This is SYL and Siyad barre generation and possibly generation X, but I suspect 'generation Y' we are similar and want to introduce center left politics like Ilhan Omar who is leading the way, where we are strong supporters of certain historical institutions such as 'tribe' and 'isimo' but not 'religion' and prefer a social structure grounded in respect of freedom of religion, thought, speech, and congregation.
I want Puntland to introduce center left economic party so we can graft a socialist market place where we grow our middle class not our top 1% thru govt interventions such as land subsidies to poorer segments, unions, govt laws around work conditions. We want the majority of our GDP in the hands of middle class engine not the 'top 1% oligarchy. I suspect each puntite generation is different. But Syl and Siyad Barre generation are still in the power scene. Generation X haven't even entered only a few have like that mursuade 'caynte' is typical generation x'er'.
Generation Y is lining up in western instututions like me and ilhan omar and so many more working for international or govenment organisation in the diaspora. Generation Mellenial are just entering university or still in high school and this generation is bin laden generation as they grew up around this 'strict islam' nonsense.
Mellenials are going to be silly 'terrorist' generation as they grew up post bin laden so it's us generation Y when we get into politics really need to secularize puntland into a state that is freedom first and human rights and isolate religion from the political scene and put it back where it belongs which is 'personal choice' category not a 'legal law' since it's not by force to follow Islam.
We need to reform these mellanials and mentor their ass out of post bin laden world before they send Somalia all into a 'theocracy' like Iran and be black listed by the world community thru economic-security and political sanctions. They are already the generation is-qarxinyo, imagine when we generation y'ers disappear to educate the mass about our time period where it was not religious and people got along just fine.
Generation Y is the best generation and I am 'biased' I know but it is. We had the greatest hip hop era of pac-biggy-dmx-diddy-nas-50 cent-eminem. I was kid listening to all their raps and the world was much different place and religion and shit was seen as not even a topic discussed, wallahi no-one even cared or discussed religion, this is the world I want to return puntland too but if generation y miss their opportuity and generation mellenials come into power, we r goingg to become a damn saudi even though generation y maxamed salman is also our generation and his heavily secularizing as u can see.
