Pirates to Pedos thanks English speaking diaspora

All 3 of these threads are rooted on negativity, 2 are crying about "what would foreigners think" you know for a community that's so insecure about its public reception, you sure love broadcasting the skeletons to the world and talking about them

Anyway f*ck pedos, Every Somali in the world should make a Tiktok letting those predatory lawmakers know that we don't stand for this shit.
Looooooooool demanding an actual functioning government to pass laws, gartay.

But we’re talking about a barely functioning government that is foreign funded, relies on foreign troops for its safety, has little to no presence in many parts of the country

idk what is about u guys and this performative nonsense

You're right, we should just do nothing and twidle our thumbs because any sign of protest is just "performative nonsense" that has never led to anything ever. And it would tarnish our already prestine image

It’s not ur fault, there is extreme ignorance amongst the western diaspora about politics back home.

Civil registration systems are pretty much nonexistent, people get married without governmental involvement, what official records are kept? Majority of children are not registered at birth, how do you even verify someones age? How do you enforce this law when there is weak courts, little police reach in rural or conflict-affected areas, etc etc

Sometimes it feels like u guys are talking about an entirely different country, not Somalia @Radical

Bruh, I don't know how you're still arguing about this. I'm aware they don't have perfect western bureaucracy and record keeping, but they're also not some chaotic dystopia.

We enforce laws by making our voices heard. Is it a crime to murder and steal in Somalia? If so that means there's some form of maintenance of public order. Now add child marriage to those outlawed conducts. It ain't rocket science

Yes we won't get rid of the problem entirely with one law, particularly in rural areas. But it's a step in the right direction and will save thousands of girls.

It is kinda hilarious he think doing protests on TikTok aka ethnic humiliation rituals would change anything in Somalia. That's probably the mindset of many diaspora making social media posts. However their doing it in English so then it really makes no sense.

People in Mogadishu get away with murder 🤣🤣 what reer badiyo man will be punished for marrying someone under 18
Ok, if you know it’s that bad, why would the bad rep be a surprise to you? A society in which people get away with murder and you’re out here crying about what people are saying.

Keep clocking them sis :snoop: This thread is crazy as hell

I think what we are actually seeing in this thread is a manifestation of “ceeb culture” probably from their upbringing (if they are diaspora) and they need to break free and let go. A healthy society is one that can openly and freely discuss its problems and actively work towards solutions for it instead of scrambling to hide it, attacking people for ‘letting the secret out’ by translating, etc etc

I won’t say too much because I am tired of getting jumped for sharing my opinion but I seen the chokehold ceeb culture got on my relatives it’s absolutely insane the way they prefer to bury and hide problems they got and let it just keep getting worse and worse and worse… this is a psychology thing atp that needs research on it :snoop:

I have more aqli than you. I have pointed out your contradiction. You made Somalia sound like a lawless no-man's land and then cry about rep. If you truly believe it's that bad that even murders walk around without any form of impunity- what the hell is it that you're crying about?

Somali people suffer from many things, ceeb culture is not one of them. Their online behaviour alone is proof of that. I genuinely wish they had that, perhaps they would’ve conducted themselves with a little bit of sense.

Ma dawlad ba ka jirta? How are people discussing passing laws in a country where the government is absent ? What state capacity is there ?

How many african countries are not like this yet their people are not doing constant humiliation rituals online?

Nobody is saying it should be swept under the rug. The issue is involving ajnabis who do not care about us, our issues, our well-being, our sufferings, and all they'll do with this information is use it against us later on to insult us and our deen. So then what is the point of translating it for them in English when the target audience for the message or discussion is your own people who can understand af Somali?

Exactly this is my problem we need to speak about these things but in our own language. So many people watch our ever move.

There is a whole group of genuinely confused somalis who believe in this sort of stuff, that constant humiliation and airing out their business to not so wellmeaning people, will one day inspire change 💀 there are people in the comments dehumanizing somalis, stereotyping them, joking about Somalia being wiped off the map. None of these attention-seeking somali people would’ve tolerated other people being spoken of in this way.

They don’t even have enough sense to close the comment-section, qashin the lot of them

Not to uplift us but to bring us down… there are literally psychotic people who lose their mind when in comes to us.

Exactly- And I need you to understand that the lack of GOV is why we have 0 rep to cry about. That is our achilles heel. Well before ticktok and instagram became common, there were countless stories of child marriages on the bbc because of Al Shaydaan and poverty. The president of the United States went on TV to say we are lawless with nothing. This rep you speak of has been destroyed by us decades ago. Rampant cases of child marriage and divorce are recorded via major news outlets and I can post it for you. Somalia isn’t unique in that regard. Recently, Sudan has also come under the firing line with a case of an underage girl being tried for murder as she killed her husband whom she was forced to marry. Online there has been cries of how barbaric their system is and I a non Sudani knows about this. But guess what? Due to international outcries, the girl isn’t being sentenced to death now.
