Saw this weird tweet by a uk caadan.
The account he’s responding to is on rw twitter. I guess he’s trying to position caribbeans as the british equivalent of FBAs even though AAs have been in America for centuries while caribbeans, like desis, are the descendants of immigrants who left their country in the 20th century.
The account is ran by an caadan american male in London. All of his thoughts on us and how we live our lives are things that he’s picked up from the internet and random assumptions. These internet racists do not know us; they see their mutual tweet about us and repeat whatever qashin they’re saying or just tweet whatever based on assumptions they may have about us because we’re african or because we’re predominantly muslim. Why do caadans who like madow culture or have madow friends try to dictate our identity or other us from being african/madow?
Somalis aren't worrying about being deported meanwhile the immigrants he claims are assimilated are still on edge because their grandparents didn’t apply for sharci properly; desis who don't speak english made sure to apply for citizenship while these people assumed caadans would allow them to stay lol

I have said this before but buzzwords like assimilation and integration are used against minorities whenever racists turn on them like Indians were propped up as perfect immigrants for decades and used as an example against muslim immigrants only for racists to turn on them. AAs are as American as you can be but still experience extreme racism from people who would swap them for random euros despite the fact that they share so much in common with caadans and are literally part caadan.

At the end of the day, this is a random tweet from someone but it ties back to a topic I think about sometimes: the othering of somalis in general; Somalis being othered by caadans from blackness who view us as desi adjacent because we’re muslim and because of our admixture/phenotype. The loser who tweeted that lurks on rw twitter and is trying to copy & paste stereotypes about desi enclaves onto uk somalis. & obviously these enclaves don’t exist, there are less than 200k Somalis in the uk vs 1.6 million Pakistanis & 300k+ Jamaicans. There are no Somalis who only live among other Somalis, attending Somali majority schools and living a segregated life where they don’t interact with non-somalis, it’s literally impossible but this is what I mean about us being othered like they’re trying to group uk somalis with nonmadows and imply they live the same lives as them.
People view whatever arabs and desis do as default muslim culture so they assume we go along with it too which is why people will do weird stuff like ask us about honor k*llings or arranged marriages when we don't do that. Both caadans & madows do this btw (associate us with desi/arab practices) but they don’t do it with madow muslims, only somalis. This is just a sly version of racism/islamophobia. Anyone who knows Somalis or even basic info about muslim demographics know who does what and who doesn’t but the main people who would associate us with this are boomer racists who think all muslims are the same & there’s no variation and zoomer/millennial caadans and madows who want to be racist/islamophobic but in a sly way like “i’m just asking questions” type stuff like they know we don’t do this they’re just being racist.
This started back in the 50s/60s when desis and madows began immigrating to england and desis were othered because of their religion and culture. I wondered if it was simply islamophobia but seeing Indians get criticized by the same types makes me think it’s not; I’ve seen people criticize them for doing well financially but choosing to marry their own. This reminds me of another account on uk twitter who posted about schools and said he wonders who the somali kids are friends with…like why do you care?? So fucking weird & creepy.
At the end of the day racists will still want to deport all minorities but my post is just to illustrate all the weird commentary people make about us and their strange obsession with. Us being african & muslim leads to all of this discourse about who we identify with, what we identify as & who we associate with and it’s weird asf. Whether we identify as madow or not is up to us but ajanabis trying to dictate our identity or group us with X group is wrong.

This is why I always say people in the uk who happen to know about Somalis are too obsessed.
