they’ve been oppressed by habeshas but thats no excuse for what they’re currently doing. also I’d be careful to justify their genocidal behaviour.. they wouldnt hesitate to do the same to us 💀

In oromo vs habash context i would side with the oromo given they are less hostile to us then the habash. However the key word is "less" both of them are still hostile to us whether outright or subtle. Its not like "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" they are still your enemy and it is a battle royale. One will combat first and the other later

Oromo are hostile to us through expansionist rhetoric and if we dont deal with them quick enough they will take over our dhaqan and claim it is theirs. And we donot have the official historical research to back up our dhaqan to the wider world. Like in the numerous towns in galbeed that are no longer sonali towns but "ethiopian" towns because of substantial oromo population. This is palpable land loss to ajaanib

As a fuley centrist i dont advocate for demonisation to the point of genocide dad qaar waa musimiin and we are not habash. I think this is enough. Rather the foot must be pushed down declared this is a somali land. Help the oromo if you must but prioritise the somali calaa kuli xaal. If a somali governance controls galbeed fully in the future then a citizenship model like the arabs is good so we can accomodate other peoples if we need to but stay a somali country. Basically everything puntitequeen says but minus the vitriol

caadan/MN/obsessed with somalis
Oromos are getting their lick back from all the centuries of oppression and being second class citizens basically.

They couldnt even speak their language in formal settings like school, radio, media till the 90s that’s how bad it was.
I'm not fully into politics but I have heard that however aren't they also affecting us and actively taking land from the somali region? If so I can't really support them against anyone if it'll harm the somalis there

Oromos are easily the biggest threat to Somalis today. Just think about it, when was the last time Amharas were in power in Ethiopia? Not since the days of Haile Selassie. Ever since then, it's been the Communist Derg, then the Tigrayans via the TPLF, and now the Oromos through Abiy. Amharas are currently being drone-striked by Abiy because of their FANO insurgency which is trying to protect them from Oromo militias. Just go on social media and search #AmharaGenocide.

As for the Tigrayans, they’re a demographic minority, even smaller than the Somali population in Ethiopia, and have been thoroughly battered by the Tigray war. We don't border them, and it’s safe to say they likely won’t be a factor in Ethiopian politics for a long time thanks to Abiy’s distrust of them. Eritrea will make sure of it as well.

Now we get to the Oromos. No other ethnic group has done as much damage to Somalis historically or in the modern era. Somalis have been internally displaced in the border areas between the Oromo and Somali regions due to the genocidal violence of Oromo ethnic militias. They’ve aggressively subsumed land from the Somali region to such an extent that the Oromo region now almost encircles Jigjiga and nearly borders Somaliland. They unabashedly claim Dir Dhabe and Harar as their own, and have linguistically assimilated numerous Somali clans and villages that were incorporated into their region. The goal is clear: pretty soon, we’ll see the Oromo region somehow bordering Somalia proper.

This ain't the 1970's anymore, get with the program and stop crying about the habesha boogyman, they're currently more oppressed than us in Ethiopia. It's best we utilize their desperation and ally with them to keep a check on Oromos until the state capacity of Somalia is mature enough to deal with them.

They’re doing a great job so far. I like the direction Ethiopia is heading. Hopefully there is a prime minister from K5 next.

I largely agree, but the difficulty is that Tigrays and Amharas are very empire-minded. That’s the difference between the TPLF days, where the sway Ethiopia had was much larger, as these Tigrays efficiently used the means of the state to try and curry influence. Abiye, however, doesn’t want to craft and share power with ethnic power brokers, he wants to make Ethiopia first, a state wherein the Oromos reign supreme and ideally expand that influence until they hit the coast. That’s why he starved the Tigrays into submission and wants to bomb the Amhara to their knees. He wants to rewrite the power balance to be unambiguously in favor of the Oromos.

What I’m trying to say is that when the TPLF went against Somalia, they were able to keep most of the other ethnicities on board. Now, all Abiye does is add another enemy while our state is weak. Asymmetrical damage could be catastrophic, besides Egypt is waiting for a reason to bomb the dam and Turkey now has to protect their investments, so for the time being we've got time.
