Damascus is getting a new metro line

I'm not saying there isn't corruption, I'm asking why that it exists so much. I recall that news weeks ago about someone exposing Puntland's ministers embezzling or stealing millions meant for development. How does something like that slip by?
My bad, I misread that but that is something I want to know as well. Do the federal states or the FGS not have audits? There are too many reports of people embezzling funds, misconduct involving diplomatic passports and etc it’s shocking. I wish we had a proper anti-corruption body in the government like the CCDI from China that ensures all the funds are monitored and everyone is required to justify their actions.

From 13%-18% but mind you the average African country hovers from 15-20% in terms of paved roads. Ethiopia for comparison sits between 12%-14%
How many times bigger is ethiopia ? and they have essential infrastructure, their capital city is really well paved and they have nice highways

Besides we shouldnt even compare to other countries when it comes to %
As long as we dont have highways from djibouti to kismayo and as long as most cities arent paved we shouldnt be happy

But when I look at jigjiga and what cagjar is doing to galbeed i still have hope

pretty sure hsm closed the anti corruption things when he got to power

Afghanistan is even a bigger feat than Syria considering their situation in the last few decades, being isolated and all.

Syria have allies around them and have a culture that emphasis education for a long time unlike Afghanistan.
Afghanistan? The same country who's leadership treats woman as property? They are doing projects but at what cost since Taliban society is so dysfunctional

The Syrians had the HTS leadership rise from the ashes during the civil war. What has Somalia had? ICU? They got cooked, split and the armed wing became cucks for AQ while HTS abandoned AQ.

Their capital is basically the only thing they have tbh
Thats all they have but we got one or two cities per state thats multiple cities that need probably more than 10B in infrastructure investment and roads

No one cares about having clean paved roads in small towns and villages tbh
Of course and I'm not making excuses for the crappy government's lack of interest in infrastructure. Somalia is doing very well in some areas but infrastructure remains a weakness that needs to be addressed
It cant be under stated its a very big weakness
Also, most of the countries I showed and most developing countries even outside of africa, get countries like china to build these big essential infrastructure projects, but since somalia is a shit show no one wants to risk their money and invest in it, its like putting your money in the 179th worst bank out of 180, too many security and corruption risks

Well done to syria. I grew up in damascus for the first 5 years of my life and have many relatives there today. Insha Allah they continue to prosper and do well!

dont believe western propaganda theyre actually doing stuff for women they built lots of schools and places for women since they took power, they just had to ban women from going to schools temporarily when they took power but NY times obviously wont tell you that it was because they were building separate institutions for women

ICU split into both extremes, dudes like Godane who shifted towards full blown khariji idealogy he got from AQ in afghanistan, and sheikh sharif who joined abdullahi yusuf's government, but shabaab is obviously way more extreme

Perhaps not roads but most of their population lives in small towns and villages that struggle to even have access to clean water and electricity. That is a separate issue however
no one wants to risk their money and invest in it,
With the exception of Turkey of course.
, too many security and corruption risks
Don't forget that despite being mostly safe, Puntland and Somaliland aren't able to make any major investment deals with other countries since they are legally tied to Mogadishu. Al-Shabab/FGS are really nerfing the country hard wallahi

Oh wait i forgot to mention this, farmers in juba and shabelle also complain that they need better roads to transport teir stuff to cities and markets

I’m not talking about politics. I’m talking about their feats.

Afgjanistan was a heavily destitute and isolated country plagued by many wars for a long time and they finally had their peace. Look at what they have done in a mere 2 years despite lack of education and infrastructure etc.

Compared to Syria who just happened to live under a dictatorship, came out of a 13 years old civil war and that was it. They also have allies keeping the country afloat.

Taliban really needs to improve their public image and as far as I know, the country is still sanctioned. No wonder they went to China since the west obviously isn't going to court them.

Somalia can have similar development, but corruption has to come to an end. So long as our leaders are corruptible, they'll be puppets in the hands of regional leaders and the Gulf states.

You gotta realize a functioning Somalia capable of producing and selling its own oil and minerals would be taking food out of the mouths of Emiratis and Qataris and Saudis.
