Oromo Doctor arrested for saying that the monthly wage of a doctor in Hargiesa is 20 times that of Ethiopia

. Her name is Mahilet Gush Gabrawald. She graduated from Maqale University in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in medicine.
Her specialty is in Pathology at St. Millennium College Medical Hospital. She studied with Paul. She taught at the Universities of Addigra, Arbamic and Aksum.
Like other Ethiopian doctors, she recalls that life in the country was difficult. She later moved to Hargeisa, where she provided medical services for more than two years. When she describes what she saw there, she says it's "milk and honey" compared to Ethiopia.
At the current dollar exchange rate, the monthly salary of the pathologist in Hargeisa could be the average salary of 20 doctors in Ethiopia. Now she is back in the country. She has also stopped marriage. She serves in a private health facility.

There is a big demand for doctors as there is lack of medical facilities in the towns and rural areas. And a lot of people are getting ill with curable illness due to check up systems and poor diet. Even some of the major towns lack proper hospitals and people often go to Hargeysa or Muqdisho depending on the region your are in. Others fly to Ethiopia or Nairobi, sometimes India or Turkey depending on the need/severity. Muqdisho has the best medical facilities in Somalia right now.

As for the story, not a surprise a lot of foreign doctors are setting up shop in Somali, therefore I would not be surprised if the lay is good compared to some areas in Ethiopia. Not sure of the exact figures though.
