I don’t know how dinka laws go, I know Nubians trace through the maternal line and if that works for them and you guys (maybe), then good for y’all. Somalis trace it paternally however, and have for thousands of years.

Even then Somalis don’t discount the mothers line. Whilst a child of an ajnabi mother is still seen as Somali due to qabil, he most definitely wouldn’t be seen as a full Somali child. They’ll forever remind him of his ajnabi mother and create nicknames.

They are a recognized clan and lived in the land before 1890. They are Somali.

Postscript:
This reminds me of an encounter I once had with a neighbour of the pale hue type, with a bit of Gustapo complexity, who crossed over to my lot, where in the midst of a heated argument, said to me 'in this country, we do not do that'. I told him 'I shall buy you a ticket to bugger back off to Europe, if you do not like it'. That did shut him up faster than he could inhale, and I could see the horror of what he was thinking on his face. That is akin to a self-styled Somali telling a half-case Somali, s(he) is not one.
