The reason people pay blood money isn’t because Somalis love bailing out murderers and rapists. It’s because these clans are scared about other clans taking the life of another innocent person.

It would make sense if they killed the person who did. Vigilante justice is not ok but at least it makes sense.

Somalis will have one member of their clan killed and the next day they’ll go on a rampage and killany men, women and unfortunately children from the murderer’s clan. Then obviously the other clan will go 10x harder and it’s just a cycle. You can observe all the clan skirmishes/civil wars.

That's true I never knew this but apparently the Isaaq genocide was the culmination of clan tensions going way back.
