Man this chapter was good. Marcus Mars conqueror haki walk (Bro made den den mushis foam at the mouth 😂) and Venus slicing half the lab + clouds from pure power, not like Laws slice of the smile factory with his devil fruit.

Joyboy doesn't look like a giant in that brief panel, so that common theory is debunked (however Nika could have been).

Marines seem like they might switch sides end-game, even common soldiers are starting to ask questions like "wait ain't that us?"

I don’t think he has any control of the toei series sxb. One piece is locked in a contract with fujitv, toei, and shueisha. It’s a threeway contract, all three of those companies have to agree if they want to change something about the anime, including improving it. If one of those companies disagrees, toei cannot improve the anime, or stop using filler just because the other ones say no. Fujitv is the that always refuses, due to the fact that they make the most money from one piece’s weekly format. If toei wants to slow down and take more time with each episode to improve it, fujitv will basically say “hey get back to work, where’s my damn episode? I don’t care how crappy it is, just make sure you release it or my channel will lose viewers. This is why Oda agreed on the remake.

It’s important that you differentiated the two, they seem to be separate. Only similarity being they all make people laugh.

It’s an interest shade to the story we’ve seen so far if the marines come into the debacle as a third party ready to bring resolution. They’ll either side with one of the ideologies or hold both accountable for their destruction.

you think so? Monet and her are both cool, it’d be a waste but that looks like what’s happening.

so what you think the reason for the Great War was? Vegapunk said he couldn’t find a moral clause so it isn’t black and white, which is intriguing.

Keep in mind Nika had the power (Voice of All Things) he could speak to all things, what if he befriended IMU out in the sea and it betrayed him since it sought to drown the whole world in ocean?

"Imu might be the Umibozu devil fruit user. first, vegapunk has theorized that devil fruits are manifestations of ideas or legends. we know the other gorosei have yokai/monster based devil fruits and have seemingly all or most of the abilities of those yokai or monsters. what if the most powerful devil fruit of them all is the most mysterious and arguably most fearsome yokai, the umibozu? it would possibly be "most powerful" due to the idea that the sea couldve been extremely feared at the time before devil fruits existed (assuming they havent always existed); just like the original folklore surrounding the umibozu in real life: there were many disasters at sea and often in japan they were explained by the wilings of umibozu. Interesting notes about the Umibozu's powers and physiology:
  1. Red eyes and inky black body. almost always described as having piercing red eyes, something that both the florian triangle monster and imu have.
  2. Shapeshifting and size manipulation. Umibozu are decribed as being complete masters of shapeshifting and can even become mountainous in size. often said to grow tentacles (like the one it used to attack sabo and cobra)
  3. Dominion over the sea. possesses the power to manipulate the sea itself, the Umibozu can conjure colossal waves and control the weather.
  4. Drain Vital Energy: In certain legends, it is believed that the Umibozu can drain the life force or vitality from its victims, leaving them weakened. can explain imu's long life without the use of Law's fruit
  5. Invisibility. In some accounts, the Umibozu can render itself invisible
  6. Due to the description of how it can appear anywhere on the ocean it's possible Imu can teleport."
since the umibozu has complete dominion over the ocean the inflated powers of a DF could allow for the 200 meter sea level rise, the creation of the grand line, and imu could have imposed a "rule" upon the ocean that anyone with a devil fruit would be rendered powerless.


the ocean would have been even more of a mysterious and feared concept since it was a "normal" ocean at one time and we have had thousands of years of oceans disasters in real life. we know that one piece's world mirrors our own in terms of folklore so people from thousands of years ago would have the same beliefs in terms of a yokai's abilities, thus making the druit more powerful.

Bravo 👏 the gorosei follow the yokai theme. This would tie nicely into the world flooding along with imu’s role in the story. They knew of nika back then so they had to have known of every df, the current timeline doesn’t even know about nika.

The “rule” part itself though goes against vegapunks theory on devil fruits being a conjuring manifestation of dreams from other realities. The sea isn’t sentient, but it rejects devil fruits as the sole originator of life itself, due to how unnatural they are. How would umibozu’s sea ability coincide with this or does it contradict?
