The second picture was taken of nomad's who were in Hargeisa to trade their camels in the cattle market in the city around the 1920's.

The first pic is from SL as well but I forgot what clan the guy in the picture is a member of. A I know is that it dates to the late 19th century.

I think he is HA

I notice Hoyo's hate long hair in general for Somali guys, not just for Madow hair. They say it's "Haram" even tho all the prophets were known to have long hair. Maybe it's just self hatred.

I predict that growing out Madow hair will become more popular amongst Western Somali youth, due to Afro-caribbean & Afram influence.

That's a good possibility. I however just wanted to grow out my hair to hide my big ass 5 head with all those buzz cuts (and it worked like a charm).

Does anyone know how these nomad's braided their hair like this? I am curious to know it seems like it has been forgotten among modern Somalis.

They look so proud and unique. We definitely need to go back to our roots and sport the great Afro’s we used to have
