It all depends on the area the grew up in, you've white trash who sound like ghetto blacks and you've articulate blacks with no "black" accent.

In general I mean.. even in states with small Black American populations like the Northwest they still have this Black-ish accent.

In the UK for instance, outside of London and some of the bigger cities, the blacks there sound like the whites. Same in the rest of Europe from what I can tell.

I think it mainly has to do with Black American English being a unique dialect and some kind of social in-group thing (Black Americans who speak standard American English get accused of 'acting white').

Didn't you see the clip of Joe Biden when he was running against Obama he called him a clean and articulate black. It was interpreted as if clean and articulate blacks are the exception and not the norm. He received a huge backlash on it.

There is a slight truth to it, especially when it comes to Black Americans.
