Running it to satisfy different personalities is even harder I suppose. Money and energy to invest. Hope the return for you guys are worth it.

You could run ads too so you make at least enough to pay for the service. Time is money, so you and others who moderate put in time for sure to maintain the site, so why not brother/Sister?

I assume it is expensive to maintain the bandwidth as demand for space grows. I think you should give consideration about making the fees for the service at least a shared burden by running the ads.

Most of us would celebrate a somali making a buck. You still achieve your higher goals but alleviate the burden for the finances of running the site. It is good service already.

It is a business model and many dumb people make money from users and people who subscribe to them on youtube and insta, so you deserve to make money from providing space for somalis.

And the ads will be based on their spy programs too, so yea, I can see why. But still, $100 every month beyond your budget will be a struggle.

If you are an engineer or a nurse, or you have some other well paying career, then being charitable is better. If , however, you are struggling to pay, find ways to pay for it as a shared burden.
