Regardless, don’t compare some stupid wall which might cost billions to maintain over several years to the TRILLIONS these idiots want to spend.

A trillion is a thousand billions. You do realize that right?

Supporting a Green New Deal doesn’t preclude you denying climate change.

It isn’t one or the other. Stop avoiding the answer.

If you’re against frivolous spending, you’d be huffing and puffing against “da wall” the most.

Money on climate change will be spent regardless, come hell or high water (pun intended).

Even the Green New Deal estimated that these crazy restrictive policies implemented worldwide might slow down global warming by 12% over the next 100 years.

So either way the Earth is warming, we’re already fucked, and now these clowns think that they can toy with the entire economy just to MAYBE slow down the rate of climate change by 3.5 degrees instead of 4 degrees? So if we do nothing, or if we do something, the climate is still gonna warm. So why take a hacksaw to the entire economy just to give yourself the illusion that you’re doing a noble thing?

You’re okay with working long hours building solar panels and rail lines? America’s gonna need all the manpower it’s gonna need. Just like WW2...women will have to be working long hours in those factories

These are not scare stories. These are economic realities that you WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH.

Just like World War 2 pulled millions of American men out of the workforce to fight overseas, it also pulled millions of housewives, old people, sick people, young people to work in jobs at factories for long hours....because fighting the War took such effort that it required massive resources (because Germany and Japan were such tough enemies to beat). But because all the labour power was tied up in building war materials, there was no labour power left for consumer items...so people were forced to have less. It was a very tough time to be an American.

AOC and Ilhan themselves referenced World War 2 and said this would be a repeat of that time. They said that this government “investment” would cost tens of trillions of dollars, and would rebuild the entire country and be a similar program to WW2 (except without the wars and killing part).

First of all stop painting ilhan and aoc as threat to the west economy. They really are not scary. You are spewing right wing scaremongering tactics basically saying nothing should be done to effect the economy. By the time it gets really bad we wont be alive anymore. On one hand you are appealing to us about our future finance.....while having zero care for what world we leave to our kids.

You have one side spending millions and millions of fighting the science of global warming, doing everything to spread misi formation and downplay it purely on financial greed.

But I still dont wanna put words in your mouth. So im gonna ask if I got your position right. Global warming is real, nothing can be done about it so no point in wasting money and ruin the economy? Am I right?

Of course we’d be alive! These guys are talking about the 2020’s decade....and they want to get this ambitious proposal off the ground in the next 10-15 years. That’s the problem.

If you want to be good stewards of the Earth, restrict large parts of the rainforest and wildlife areas for the animals, clean up the oceans and prevent ocean pollution, prevent poaching and the burning of ecosystems, and plant a lot of trees. Get the people in the villages who live scattered to migrate to the more compact cities, and have them use oil for their energy needs rather than burning firewood (which is a “renewable energy” but also much worse for the planet.

There’s also a lot of space for using nuclear technology (which is zero carbon), and being more efficient with our oil usage. There’s a lot of things we can do. Maybe try to transform the Sahara into a savannah/forest, and have this extra vegetation help neutralize the carbon output. Putting trees in the desert would cost a shit-Tom, but it still wouldn’t approach the economic damage from transitioning away from oil entirely and doing the GND.

But what we’re not gonna do is implement socialism, an economic system that has NEVER worked. In any country it’s ever been tried, socialism has failed. That’s not a “talking point”, that’s a historical fact.

Your extremely arbitrary 'libertarian reasoning' doesn't have incentives to reduce environmental damages. How can you claim you know something but contradict yourself fundamentally in this way?

So now being in favour of a market economy, which has been a consensus for most of the last century....is now considered being “libertarian”

You’re unbelievable. Too shallow to understand how horribly the modern Dems have lurched left, and make traditional Democrats from the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s look like modern day Republicans. These people are actual socialists

Stop getting concerned over party label. That’s what kids do. Look at their actual policies.

You claimed I didn't know the "libertarian reasoning." I know for a fact what it is, it's a bunch of people from heterogeneous backgrounds, but they all follow the core principle of liberty. They value nothing but themselves, and thus rejects any social and economic cohesion which comes at their own expense if they directly don't benefit from it.

Experts have debunked this stupid political philosophy, so I will not waste my time on it. Lmao, yes, libertarians support the free market, most adhere to the laissez-faire to be specific. You are not that bright, but speak so confidently it's painful. I know what I'm talking about, but you don't know your political and economic philosophy.

You need to concern yourself about actually learning things at a deeper level. Everything you say is surface-level shit you hear when tuning in on Fox News.

Debating people is a waste of time when they lack basic knowledge of the topic at hand. I'm out.

Deeper level kulaha. If anyone had ACTUAL compassion for the poor and the dispossessed, then you support the very same policies that brought about the Industrial Revolution you idiot.

You think libertarians are motivated because of their selfish desire to make money? As if politicians of all stripes don’t have that same motivation? If the government were smaller, inflation would cease and increased production would lead to lower real prices for goods and services. This would increase the standard of living of the poorest people, since they spend most of their money on consumer goods. Helping the poor is by promoting markets, but you and your Salon buddies can fuck off with your specious arguments. You want me to throw a Hayek or Mises book at you?

This idiot keeps mentioning Fox News as some smug know-it-all.

Who gives a crap about Fox News. Go back to your Dad’s house and pick up a book of Adam Smith, Frederic Bastiat, Ludwig Von Mises, and Hayek. Get your head out of the sand with your stupid Young Turks talking points. Your economic ignorance is painful

Libertarianism represents a wide array of movements or beliefs, but all are predicated on the core principle of liberty. What liberty means depends on each libertarian, but what traditional meant in the past was to abolish capitalism and private property, while contemporary libertarians advocate laissez-faire capitalism and strong private property rights.

A fair summation of all libertarians is that they seek maximum freedom of the individual and minimal authority of government. As such, they intend to insist upon freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to bear arms, freedom of and from religion, freedom of the free press, freedom of ownership, freedom of the economy, and they almost always oppose the welfare state and taxation (which they see is a form of slavery).

People that support this fell out of the right vagina at the right time. They inherited biological and/or socioeconomic advantages that they did not earn, and thus, they do not "deserve" all of the fruits of their labor. They were dealt good cards.

When people contemplate and determine the structure of society, they do so selfishly, based on their personal circumstances, characteristics and preferences -- such as their mental and physical abilities, social status, ethnicity, gender, and most crucially, their conception of what's good.

Thus, it's no surprise that some people who can afford the bare basics (such as shelter and food) want a society in which they're not obliged (through tax) to pay towards other peoples bare basics.

Likewise, it's no surprise that some people who can afford to pay for their family's medical bills want a society in which they're not obliged (through tax) to pay towards strangers' medical bills. Just as it's no surprise that some people who can afford to send their children to school want a society in which they're not obliged (through tax) to pay for other people's children to go to school, and so on and so forth.

But the only reason they seek such a society is because of their lucky circumstances. They've been dealt good biological and socioeconomic cards, and as such they stand to lose a card or two should a society attempt to equalize the hands of those less fortunate.

The moral and political philosopher John Rawls proposed what he called the "original position", and argued that "A just society is a society that if you knew everything about it, you'd be willing to enter it in a random place."

He reasoned that if people determined the basic structure of society behind a veil of ignorance, which would deprive them of information about their specific characteristics, such as the ethnicity, social status, and gender, they would create a welfare state.

They'd elect a society that maximizes the prospects of the worst off because they themselves might be the worst off. They'd create a society that would ensure that if they or their loved ones where born blind deaf or dumb, they'd nevertheless have a life worth living.

That is the reason libertarian is a failed political philosophy. Most of the good thing I have in my life is due to me being dealt with good biological cards. I didn't earn it. Thus, I'm convinced that some of the fruits of my labor should go to those less fortunate.

I stand side by side with a libertarian on few things, but I would never adopt the failed way of life they follow because it fundamentally hinders progress and the well-being of the majority because of the selfishness of some.

And the most important, I don't believe libertarians represent liberty. True liberty, in my opinion, requires equal opportunity, and libertarianism doesn't deliver this. In fact to the contrary, it protects those arbitrarily dealt with good cards and leaves those arbitrarily dealt bad cards to die. It addresses "freedom from" but it utterly fails to address "freedom to".

I felt I had to school you on your own views. I'm not ignorant like you. I try to understand things. What use is it to reading a bunch of books when they're outdated and created by people that you have a bias for?

Again, with your nonsensical emotional rants. What I’m making is not a value statement, it’s a statement of fact. Free market capitalism is what creates the wealth, and funding a welfare state through taxes is something we can talk about and accept, but controlling most of the means of production is unacceptable and that’s what you low-IQ idiots fail to understand. You’re looking at the welfare spending while ignoring the fact that the Government will be heavily involved in almost every sector of the economy.

I've never said that capitalism is a bad thing you stupid cretin, I'm just against that stupid unregulated one you are talking about. You didn't refute shit about what I said but keeps jumping from one topic to the next.

Nothing I said was based on emotion, but a clear dismantlement of your stupid incoherent views. You are a tiresome, highly impulsive individual. You need to grow up and learn self-control.

So why the fuck are you defending these Bernie Sanders, Ilhan, AOC type of individuals who want to dismantle the very system that’s created so much wealth and prosperity. I can accept a liberal. I can accept someone who’s a welfare spender as President. What I cannot ever accept is someone who’s going to control the means of production and that’s what the GND entails

You don’t have the balls to call out someone for being stupid like Ilhan. You have the cowardly mentality of “being fair” and looking at both sides when the evidence is staring at you in the face that Ilhan is a highly stupid individual who’s economic policies would ruin the US for a generation

The green new deal is the epitome of leftish jokerism which is personified by the so called squad. How can anyone take them seriously? Anyone who finished highschool would laugh at the stuff it proposes.

Back to ilhan omar, |Every thing about her is fake. Her ideals, her actions and her mannerisms. she is also dumb. When she under the water you would think she would lie low and look for allies right. Nope she goes to sponser a BDS bill. Like she is legit useless

She doesn’t understand politics whatsoever and has very poor self-awareness. This rookie congresswoman is now the target of the hatred of all the xenophobes and white nationalists in the country. I fear for the safety of regular Somali hijabi girls walking the streets of America, as a crazed White Nationalist could easily target her in substitution for Ilhan.

Ilhan made herself too famous and has antagonized too many people, and she knows that her bodyguards will protect her no matter what. But random Somali females don’t have that same kind of protection, and my big fear is that one of them will be targeted instead.

If Ilhan had any brains, she would work with Trump. We all know that Trump is an egotistical narcissist, so why didn’t Ilhan stroke Trump’s ego and praise him subtly while trying to get your agenda through? Why didn’t we persuade Trump to drop the weapons embargo on Somalia and to train the Somali army? Trump hates Al-Shabab too, so why not work with him to achieve these important goals? But this idiot wants to talk about BDS and Israel and all that crap, destroying her political capital for no reason whatsoever

Forgot taking the arms embargo of somalia. Just getting commitment from congress and USAID of sustainable development would be great. Getting american contractors and military to rebuild the somali army just like they rebuild the shambolic iraqi army overrun by isis just a few years would do wonders.

But she like you said lacks self awareness, utterly useless and complete waste of space.
