To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. The Allāmah, Shaykh Dr. Yusuf al-Qardawi, has returned to his Lord. May Allah forgive his sins, exalt his ranks, accept his good deeds, and preserve his legacy as a means of blessings for him and benefit for all of us!

Ameeen indeed!

1. I don’t agree with all of Sheikh Qaradawi’s fatwas and views. He certainly made mistakes but the good he has done far outweighs any mistakes. We could do this with any scholar in history, point out their Ijtihad mistakes and betray them to be deviants.

2. When a Muslim dies (especially a scholar), it’s not the right time or place to bring up his faults.

3. Some of his statements may be the slip of the tongue or ambiguous as I haven’t checked all of them, we should always make excuses for other Muslims until all other motives are ruled out.

4. Some of the things listed in that Tweet are trivial fiqh differences of opinion such as shaking the hands of the opposite gender or the permissibility of Musical instruments. A minority of scholars such as Ibn Hazm, Imam al-Ghazali and others have permitted the use of musical instruments and a minority of scholars consider shaking the hands of the opposite gender to be makruh (disliked) but not haram if there’s no desire.

If its true that he said those things we shouldn't pray for him and should be forgotten , we so shouldn't share any of his works.

The Shaykh repented and regretted ever making that fatwa. It was a mistake on his part. May Allah forgive all his mistakes, grant him entry into the highest level of Jannah and may we carry on his legacy.
