Christmas is far from Christian but a Roman pagan holiday - Saturnalia marking Winter Solstice. And it has been used by industry for the promotion of hype consumerism.

“We are Christians with an Islamic culture” is one of the most common phrases used by Christians in Egypt, since whether Muslim or Christian, all of us are equally Egyptians.

Many Christians repeat the phrase on various occasions, declaring the religious identity to which they belong, but at the same time feeling proud and appreciative of the Islamic culture in which they live, one that urges tolerance and calls for family bonding and social cohesion. This culture combines matter and spirit and intermingles religious values with the requirements of daily life.”
Yes I know how many Christians in the ME feel, as muslims we should be hospitable and kind to them as this is their home too. Laakin it’s one thing to have freedom of religion and like bake them something and give it to them, and it’s another to follow their beliefs, put up a christmas tree, and follow the acts of western christians. Mo salah doesn’t even post eid pictures and if he does it’s him going about his day in regular clothes and just snapping a quick pic. But he goes ALL OUT for Christmas more than the average Christian in america

I was talking about it generally I never knew who this man was until last year when Twitter was going crazy about him celebrating a PAGAN holiday.

Streets decorated with lights, trees with garlands and ornaments in most malls and city centres, people taking pictures with the tree while Christmas songs play in the background—this is the Christmas spirit in Egypt.

Despite the fact that Christmas is a commemoration of the birth of Jesus, many Muslims share the different festive rituals of Christmas with Christians. For many Muslims, decorating their houses with Christmas trees, having dinner together on Christmas Eve, and exchanging gifts with friends are as essential as buying “Halawet El-Mouled” (candy distributed to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad).”
Bro this is another cap, some malls have christmas trees but streets decorated with lights. Maybe in Alexandria where there is a huge Christian population but definitely not Cairo.
For example this is a tree in city stars mall, cairo

We do y’all use the excuse that it’s “pagan”, we are muslims not pagans. Pagans are kaffir just like christians.
Also, Christmas is a christeo-pagan holiday. It’s still a Christian holiday, the purpose is to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ. People love to go around and around but at the end of the day it’s haram.

Unlike in Somalia, Christianity is the second largest religion in Egypt and Egypt has the biggest population of Coptic Christians in the world. IT IS NORMAL THERE TO DO IT. Nobody bats an eye if a Christian fasts alongside a Muslim or if a Muslim helps another Christian with decorations on Christmas. It’s something they do which is integrated into their culture.

What are you getting so worked up for? So what if he’s celebrating Christianity it ain’t none of our business because we aren’t Egyptian nor Coptic. Just leave people alone because many of them do not care what a non

The purpose is useless, it was an act for the church to get more Christian believers back in the day, Jesus wasn’t born around this time of the year, he was born around spring and MANY Christians are aware of it. They do it to just get together as a family and remember the sacrifices Jesus Christ (as) did for them back in the day and have a feast. The whole Santa thing etc came later on. It’s a Pagan holiday to mark the end of the year, simple as that.

is it haram to celebrate it in Jesus name? Yes but it ain’t our business as to how an Egyptian Muslim does it because they are clearly in religious harmony with their Christian neighbours at the end of the day. Many of you guys here can’t relate with it and like to stick your noses into others business. He clearly doesn’t care what other Arabs are saying and many Egyptians under his replies support him regardless because they do the same.

No need to write so damn much, I’m criticizing them because they are muslim and his main supporters are muslims. Celebrating Christmas is Haram, point blank. No need to have discussions on whether it’s pagan or Christian. It’s non-muslim holiday and that’s enough.

Lmao do you celebrate your birthday? New year? Halloween???? Or even Mawlid??? If so you’ll be in the same category. You obviously didn’t even read one thing I said- I never denied that it wasn’t haram, I even said it right there that it is but it is normal and integrated into their culture and they do not care. They have religious harmony and can get song and practice the same thing. It’s ridiculous at this point because you don’t see Christians criticise their people celebrating OUR holidays despite the fact that they also have the whole mentality of being the only truth etc etc but they won’t go make a fuss about it and even encourage it because of the whole “love your neighbour” thing

No. It’s foreign to us because we don’t see Somali Christians around us. Believe me nobody would throw a fit if they saw others celebrating Christmas
majority of people here grew up in western countries where 99% celebrate Christmas & we still don't participate in it.

If you Muslim you can't participate in it, periodt .
Christian's should celebrate Christmas, not Muslims .

Ion celebrate shit, las time I celebrated my birthday was like….elementary school. Didn’t know Mawlid was a thing till recently and Halloween and New Years are a definite no. Those are good sleep days. But anyway this wasn’t about me. Everything else is just irrelevant to the topic, I’m a muslim so I would encourage non muslim in participation in our celebrations but I wouldn’t encourage a muslim to celebrate unislamic holidays.
Also stop abusing “love thy neighbor”.
