Some of the information online in these articles they keep re-urgitating about Berbera and Mogadishu port is outdated. They both have seen major modernization and expansions.
In Mogadishu for example they have modern mobile heavy duty harbor cranes that have made it more efficient at loading and unloading cargo more
They also innagurated many new projects recently:

A lot of information online in these articles they keep re-urgitating about Berbera and Mogadishu port is outdated. They both have seen major modernization and expansions.
In Mogadishu for example they have modern mobile heavy duty harbor cranes that have made it more efficient at loading and unloading cargo more effeciently.

I also shared this in the other thread Somali business men purchased 6 new freight ships that carry large volumes of cargo's as well off the port of Mogadishu to facilitate the increased trade.
Mind you that they are incredibly expensive each one costs hundreds of millions of dollars.

It all just proves Somalia to be a regional logistics and trade hub, like i've been saying many times before.
You can clearly see this evident on the ground from the movements of goods, increased business and the general activity. From cross border trade , to aviation, to sea born trade. Somalia is a transit corridor/gateway for goods across East Africa

It was posted by an Eritrean account, so let’s not get carried away. You’re right , Mogadishu does not currently operate large-scale ship-to-shore (STS) gantry cranes for container handling. That said, the port has the option to acquire or lease such cranes from international suppliers, with companies like Businessclaud already providing customized STS container solutions for markets like Somalia.
For the record, Mogadishu Port’s equipment is in working order and includes 9 mobile cranes (15–25 tonne capacity), 7 dockside cranes, 4 RORO tug masters with trailers, and 3 forklifts capable of lifting up to 15 tonnes each.
Besides that miss-attributed picture he is not wrong, Mogadishu is experiencing major port activity and expansion, so it's hardly surprising if you compare it to our neighbors like Eritrea's Asab port. Same goes for Berbera it too has experienced growth in activity and expansions.

Yes I know I'm right. I think the World bank should investigate Mogadishu government claims. Berbera obviously has those cranes, who reported to the world bank that berbera does not have those cranes?

The photo on the bottom left and right seems to be Mogadishu port and they were taken/shared directly by the Mogadishu Port Authority
but much like these he probably got it from google or some random account. It's an odd to thing to nitpick at, the world bank and S&P Global market is not basing their ranking on 1 miss-attributed picture shared by newly appointed official on twitter. Relax, it's not a big deal.
They got their numbers from the company managing the port and surveying it directly.

Nope they track it from 2020-2024 and its in the year 2024 they base it on which is before he even came into to the position, so they wouldn't have been able to get it from him , even if they were to collect that data from the govt , which they don't.

and scroll down to Data sources section . It shows that the ''CPPI'' is based on monthly port call data provided by major global shipping lines, validated and standardized with AIS vessel tracking to ensure accurate timestamps, cargo moves, and port operations.
Basically they don't get it from the Somali government at all or even Mr Americo . The CPPI data comes directly from Private Shipping companies which is independently validated and analyzed by S&P Global.
But you and that twitter warrior you linked can continue to lose your mind over it, if that will make yall feel better about it.

You still haven't addressed the source of the glaring factual inaccuracies in the report concerning Berbera.

I remember also Djibouti made a big stink in 2024 and the World bank went to visit them. In the 2025 report they have a big two page spread about how they are handling disruption. This report is politicizied and clearly has input from adminstrations/government. I think Berbera port was sabotaged here.
