Mogadishu Port and Berbera Port rank #1 & #2 respectively in East African ports ranking

You were already spinning up great myths based on photoshopped images. Excuse me for correcting the record.

You still haven't addressed the source of the glaring factual inaccuracies in the report concerning Berbera.

Again, CPPI report is not based on a 1 single image posted on twitter relax, It comes from direct port calls from private global shipping companies which is independently analyzed Global S&P.

You are right, they actually have innacurate description about Berbera and its outdated . This is what i've told Barkhadle a lot. Some reports you read online they often are outdated and detached like they seem behind on the progress being made and what the on-ground reality is like and underestimate the activity when it comes to Somalia & Somaliland

Berbera is not a very small port at all it has expanded its capacity under DP world and in 2021, the port received three Super Post Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) gantry cranes, each with a 24-row outreach and a lifting capacity of 65 tons

Additionally, eight rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes were installed to enhance container handling efficiency'

Also the frequency of port calls are higher if you look up Data. Berbera Port actually handles an average of 2 container ship calls per week, with fluctuations between 1 and 6 calls per week. For instance, in March 2024, the port recorded 6 container ship calls, while in April 2025, it had only 1 call. So the frequency is higher than the "one port call per week" in the report

It is similar to Mogadishu which also handles an average of 2 container ship calls per week, with fluctuations between 1 and 5 calls. For instance, in August 2024, the port recorded 5 container ship calls, while in April 2025, it had only 1 call.

Mogadishu port is really primitive for the biggest Somali city, glad they're building a new one, probably why they're not investing in this one
This is ww2 tech btw this really isnt the flex you think it is, you dont need to mindlessly try to defend every single aspect of somalia makes you look really pathetic

You are exaggerating it. Mogadishu port currently has:
  • Two container berths with a 540-meter quay and a yard that can handle 14,500 TEUs.
  • General cargo setup with multiple quays, warehouses, and plenty of open storage.
  • Oil terminals that can handle tankers up to 30,000 DWT.
  • Total capacity of 3–5 million tons a year.

This is not a primitive or “WW2-era” port by any standard metrics. Mogadishu Port is fully operational and can handle container, bulk, and oil traffic just fine. They’re still modernizing and expanding it, but even as it is now, it moves a decent volume of cargo efficiently.

It has modern container handling equipment, silos, a dry port, and oil berths. It’s clearly operational and structured, not some “primitive” dock. it’s smaller than Berbera or Djibouti, sure, but definitely not outdated.

That small mobile crane is, but theres worse in Bosaso and Garacad so its not actually that bad

But it doesnt matter anyways if theyre building a new port

What are you waffling about?

The report is not outdated.
See the 2024 World bank meeting with Djibouti where Djibouti authorities outlined a number of mitagations all of which were dutifully reproduced in this years report. There is a political aspect you are unable to grasp.

It's not as outdated or primitive as it might seem to you; in fact, it's quite efficient for its size. However, it needs more expansion and space to handle the increasing demand. So it's should be encouraging to see what they are able to manage at its current size but because it indicates how much growth it will project when it builds that new port and expands the current one as they are doing.

This is similar to the airport situation, just as airports get congested and require new terminals , equipment and space to accommodate more international flights. So that's why they are also building a new one currently whilst also renovating Aden Cadde Airport

That report was released a few days ago this year assessing port calls from 2024, but the information/description within it about Berbera being ''A very small port and it doesn't have STS installed" is outdated. Thats what i am saying and showing. Because it is describing something that was the case pre-2021 but no longer applies.

Berbera also has now the same/similar weekly port call rate as Mogadishu in 2025.

Very naive thinking. Somehow only they only named Berbera with completly erroneous information. While Djibouti they gave 2 pages to their government most recent complaints and suggestions. It's not believable.
