Map of control in Somalia (Updated Nov 2025) How cooked are we?

Every Arab state claims such things. There isn’t anything resembling a coherent system with the mountains of corruption and
Yh but the bases are there, for now at least

If theres a future more conservative President he has the foundations to make it stronger

If FGS survives in the future they will be forced to make a strong and established Judicial system at some point, one of two things will happen, they will either go full secular with western laws like Morocco, or they will lean more towards sharia but even then I doubt they will fully implement it

If they follow Morocco's example be prepared to see stuff like this and much worse

What the f*ck is going on in konfuur 34yrs of civil war billions spent in military aid and al shabaab is still a dominant force controlling more land then the fgs this country is a joke my nigga who knows maybe in another 30yrs niggas will take back two villages really show them who’s boss eh
To make matters worse majority of those lands supposed under FGS control is under the control of a clan or local forces and the central government has only a nominal authority over those areas and these forces can diss the FGS at will. Billions of dollars and dozens of thousands of soldiers lost for nothing

They haven’t built a single sustainable hospital or large scale economic project despite collecting more lacag from Somalis than most Somali admins. If they were to take power, they would get isolated, hit with sanctions and would have little clue how to generate enough revenue to counter the eventual loss of aid money and possibly human/economic movement into Somalia. It would also become harder for the diaspora to invest and visit the motherland. It wouldn’t matter if they were “ideologically open”.
i think their amniyat takes a big chunk. war is expensive. its costs money to keep out smart devices and only allow qoslaaye cell phones while also controling important checkpoints.

They would try to hold trading hostage by threatening to unleash piracy again. They would put an ideological/religious spin on it, with some spiel about Gaza, but it would be an extortion racket, like everything else they do.

They are less anti-education than the Taliban, but other than that they would be rather similar in terms of governance. Only real difference is that AS are Shaafi’s and TB are Hanafis.

For infrastructure they have built some things like schools and hospitals but yes Somalia would basically become a black hole under them.
think of them as AQ but with elements of kacaanism. their amniyat is more strict that isis and aqap.

AS isn't really hard to get rid of. The offensives in 22 were good. The momentum is lost for now. Every leader focuses on siyaasad fully. When election time is near
There is more than 20k madow soldiers who are operating under amisom mission, then there is like another 20k illegal ethiopian and kenyan forces occupying parts of the country, so if destroying AS isn't that hard why all of these madow soldiers in the country?

It took 3 weeks of carbet bombing by the American and Turkish drones and hundreds of casualties for the combined Amisom and SNA to liberate a tuulo called bariire which is no more than 40km away from mogadishu and still they are only few kilometres from the area, I think we all can guess what it would take to liberate another 6km from these hordes
