What’s a reasonable mahr in Somalia? My cousins getting married to a girl out there and hers is $10k mahr which doesn’t include the wedding. Too high or too low ? Personally I feel he’s being finessed

Is he a millionaire? If not, 10k is ridiculous. Is she an entitled daughter of a politician? But can I get some clarification as to what mehr is. Is it not the money given the the girl's family before they get married? I've heard people refer to it as money given to a women after she is divorced.

why is your cousin getting married back home? It costs a lot to do immigration and the cost of flight + upkeep in two households. Can he not find a girl here?

Also she can have her mahrbe a million dollars that’s her prerogative. High mahr= less divorce so it’s a good thing.

Ask him how he feels 10k doesn't seem that bad considering you aren't obligated to pay it all at once. If he has a decent job he could give her 1k a year for 10 years. 1k a year isn't much of a loss for the average working person

No he works a regular job and she’s definitley doesn’t come from a well off family. He would have to support her & her fam. She wants some upfront but mahr should given anyway at some point. Mahr is money you give as a gift to the woman & he’s paying for the wedding and gold separately.

Most people in the west pay half of that. The fact that she's from Somalia and asking for 10 racks makes it obvious she sees your cuz as a comeup because he's western.

He just like xalimos back home I think. She’s staying in Somalia bro and he’s going to eventually return & make a business in the next 5 years. Still seems a bit fishy, don’t want him to be taken for an idiot

Wierd if he like fob girls there plenty in the west. Many who would be open to going back there and the Middle East and are use to the lifestyle back home and the west.

Long distance marriages are horrible and oftentimes these girls only want to go to the west and dump the guy. Hopefully he knows her well and can say if she's genuine.

He seems like a sucker to be honest. But it’s best not to get involved.
