Isn't it interesting that Dhulbahante and Warsangeli, the 5th and 6th largest Darod clans, have a territory that is 72% as large as that of Isaaq? If it were a single region, it would be the 2nd largest in Somalia after Bari.

it makes no sense why this would be necessary. No offence to PL, but I'm sure this new state can handle itself against Puntland. These soldiers should be barred entry, they’ll probably only be there to try and aggravate PL.

Also this is a weird thread. Last year Hawiye were denouncing laascanood’s war to liberate itself in the name of samaale. They’ve improved since then and are back to supporting one nation. Now we see here today, folks that were celebrating Khatumo’s victory last year, speaking in favour of attacking this newly formed region.

I can’t say we’re a wretched peoples since that is haram and we’re Muslim Alhamdulliah, but what is this behavior? No one truly cares about forming a nation. Everyone no matter what they tell you only cares about their petty clan politics. Last yr and the yr before it was the Hawiye standing in the way of Lasanood being part of Somalia, now it’s the MJs. Anything that lessons regional clan domination even if it’s better for us as a nation long term is fought and reviled. Why? Because we’re an unserious ethnic group whose minds are that of a medieval fiefdom. Even the Anglos forming England in the 950s AD were probably more progressive and understood the serious need for unification than a Somali living in 2025. That’s how backwards we are.

We cannot claim that everyone is in agreement with sellout politicians, as we have our own who run to Mogadishu for a payday. But if we focus on pure clan politics, the Daarood clan would be wise not to piss MJs off. Because the truth is, MJs are the one clan that tips them into laandheer status within Somalia. If people discover the DNA truth in Somalia, and we suddenly left them, they'd be considered no longer a threat at best, or swallowed up, at worst.


I already see clans 'discovering' their people and reuniting, who knows what happens in future. But I will not pretend to care about or miss Daarood politics.

People should not delve into clan origins and DNA. Every group of people have some sort of clan myth and for centuries, Daroods have probably intermarried with each other more so than any other clan thus might even be more related to each other via mothers line if you get the drift. For example, even if a Dhulo isn’t related to MJs via one tree of daroodnimo, one thing I’ve noticed is that historically a MJ was much more likely to marry another Darood than a Hawiye thus cementing more of a blood link.

Personally I believe once widespread DNA takes root we will find out a lot of major clan families aren’t actually related, but there is no point politicizing that since Somalis for the last 800 yrs have lived by that system and no amount of DNA testing will change that, because ultimately due to these major tribes which were in many cases confederations, there is a lot of blood connection but not as people expect from the fathers side but via women.
