I understood 'Shinkoort'
in all honesty this is either Ge'ez or Tigrayan. I understood like 2% of it. Words here and there. From what year is this? It must be too old for me to understand so little of it and still be Amharic.

I thought it was Ge'ez first too, but the text says it's Amharic. It's from the 14th or 15th Century.

yes this one is better but still so different. I feel like in highschool they try to make you read Shakespeare in the original English and your like that's barely English....yeah it feels like that. It's so interesting though.

Gañña is 'mare' in Amharic and gumarre means 'hippo' in Amharic/Tigrigna.

The book lists it's meaning in Cushitic languages and for Somali it says it's genyo and gomari?
