Rwandas issue is different because they don't suffer from allergies to accountability. Somalis do.

And Rwanda is so different from us because we have suicidal and irrational loyalty to qabiil in expense of nationhood, dowladnimo and nationalism.

I will never forget reading about a Western diplomat's take on when the rebels of Ethiopia were at the door of Addis Ababa. It was 1991, same time as our collapse, difference was, the Western diplomat said, was that Ethiopian rebels halted their offensive at the gates of the capital. They allowed negotiation to take place. They were concerned abt one thing and that was the collapse of the state and the institutions. Whereas in Somalia the mission of the rebels and the dictator was "who gives a f*ck about Somalia, let this shit implode and explode, let it collapse if my qabiil ain't gonna rule". So they entered the Somali capital and looted every institution. While Ethiopian dictator boarded a plane into exile Siyad Barre deliberately refused to go into exile and save the capital. :farmajoyaab::farmajoyaab:

He's gay.

How come none of the Somalis have hurt him or Anderson Cooper while over there?

I think Somalis don't mind homosexuality when it comes to white people.

Don't be fooled Somalis hate khaniis irrespective of colour :dabcasar: they may not know because he isn't flamboyant like they expect gays to be:manny:

It's in Somaliland, what's the government doing? Clearly not their job and they should be ashamed. This is what's called "dead aid" (there's a fantastic book called Dead Aid).

Have you read the book? African author? It was recommended to me while back, haven't had the chance.

Our people are going to get hooked on aid and it will depreciate the level of productivity within the nation.People may see this as something good but in actuality it takes us a few steps back in terms of our pursuit in becoming a self-reliant country.Furthermore it is tarnishing our reputation and making the world believe that we are incapable of catering for our own needs,in other words making us a meme.Mark my words nothing good will come of this.I understand that the guy has pure intentions however he should consider the negative implications this may have on the inhabitants of the nation once the aid is stopped.

She's right, you should definitely read it. While we're on the topic, check out Frantz Fanon's The Wretched of the Earth too - phenomenal commentary on the psychological burden/effect of colonialism. Check out the great Edward Said's work too on orientalism. These guys have covered and explained European fuckery excellently in their own right.

The root cause are not the people but the politicians have left us in these circumstances.

Africa can't use the colonized excuse.

What about those formerly colonized in Asia that are now big shots, economically?

Waa sheeko kaley inabti - you can't compare the two continents. It's hard to deny the current African savagery though. Makes me think how much longer we can continue to blame the whiteboys; we've inadvertently transformed them into gods in the process, and it's getting tiring to be honest.

Yeah I have, it's very good. Explains how aid causes corruption, increases poverty, and impedes economic growth.

Someone suggested that to me along with, "The Lords of Poverty: The Power, Prestige, and Corruption of the International Aid Business" by Graham Hancock, they were both interesting but the second one had very specific examples from Somalia that were surprising.
